- Hi All, I got a call this morning from my big sister. She said her friend took photos of the Jack Russell dog on the Collindale estate, and it wasn't Cookie. I know I don't sound very trusting, but the girl with dog could have borrowed a Jack Russell for photo session, just so she could keep Cookie...I'm sure this is not the case (in fact, my sister assured me it was all definitely 'kosher'), but the thought of starting from scratch to find Cookie is OVERWHELMING - was so hoping it was him. I was led to believe the dog was Cookie yesterday, so a bit gutted. Thanks again Julie & Jennie/Jazzi and all you doggy folk out there...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Dear All Someone has contacted my sister #2 who owns Cookie. She was given a tip off that she might know where Cookie is. Apparently someone in a nearby area has recently acquired a Jack Russell in the last few weeks. The dog fits Cookie's description, but we're just waiting for someone to take a photo of dog before we do anything. Will get local Dog Warden involved if it is Cookie. Will keep you all posted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My sister just got back from standing in the rain by the A1/Five Ways Corner area, satisfied that she made everyone passing by know about Cookie's disappearance. Thanks again for looking out for him Julie (I'm off to Israel this Sunday for 11 days!) and Keelah for putting the mention in the next issue of Countryman's weekly - any charge for front cover ad!?!!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Can I suggest anyone missing a dog in the N London/Essex area hot foots it to the big Easter funfair on Hampstead Heath, if it hasn't already moved on... Posters for the fair might give the name of it and you might be able to find where it's gone next. I remember a few years ago young lads from the caravans trying to buy my collie cross off me, makes my blood run cold now to think of it! - I did leave the Heath quickly as the atmosphere was quite menacingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm sorry that this wasn't Cookie. So it's back to just saturating the area with posters. This really works .As word gets round & more people see posters, hopefully sightings of Cookie will start to come in.Also a good idea to keep checking all the local rescues, police stations etc. Fingers crossed , you'll hear something soon.S xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I decided to call Harmsworth again this am. I've asked 3 different people there to decribe him and they have each said the dog they have has wirey hair on his face and has small baby teeth that told them dog could not be more than 6 months old. Cookie has soft smooth hair on his face and not wirey hair. I decided - not to go. I feel confident that this is not Cookie based on 3 descriptions. If they had said smooth hair on his face I would have gone to check as he is definitely not wirey haired. He has beagle type hair, he's not rough at all. I trust their description. The dog will go to Battersea in the next day or two so can ask them to do photo check to double check. Just trying to economise on running around uneccessarily as have so much to do. Of course if I get a closer description I'd all and go! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Cookie's Auntie , if you can get to the Harmsworth it's always better to go in person. That way things can be sorted on the spot,so to speak. Good luck , fingers crossed ,this is Cookie. Keep us posted. Steph xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Try and get the local paper to do a story on Cookie. As much publicity as you can get might help, especially if Cookie has been stolen. Someone might notice that their neighbour has suddenly got a new dog that looks like him. Good luck and I hope he's home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks everyone for your comments. After I received Obie1's comment I decided to phone Harmsworth back. I was at work today and had college course after work. But I would have gone to Harmsworth if I could have got someone on the phone. I tried 4 times at different intervals. No answer at all! Tried calling central RSPCA number - the 1234 999 one and they gave me a different Harmsworth number. Still no-one answered the phone! I am planning to go first thing in the morning and go in a little late to work. It is really hard to juggle this. Thanks for the tips about the camera.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Cookies Auntie - If you really can't get to see the dog at the Harmsworth I would follow it up with Battersea as they are more obliging. Have you already reported Cookie to Battersea? If so call them and tell them the story and make sure they have photo. Speak to lost and found as they are very helpful. Stay safe Cookie darling.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I would have still gone to the hospital to make sure this was or was not my dog especially as he does not have a tag or chip so is not easily identifiable. People can make mistakes with ages as this happened to my mum and dads puppy when he ran off. We were told by the police that the only dog they had there was old. I insisted on walking all the way down there in the pouring rain anyway and it was Pepi. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- hiya, is there anyone near the hospital who could have a look for you - just in case - mistaken age of 4 months instead of 3 years seems a bit odd to me, especially in a JR who change distinctively from puppyhood to adulthoodLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I just had a call from the RSPCA Harmsworth hospital to say that they had a Jack Russell brought in from West London (W10) on Friday 21st March at 6:45pm. He has broken toes - they've put them in a caste. No collar. He has brown patches on his body and one of his legs and on his face. She thought it could be Cookie. I asked her if I could send her a picture or could she access doglost.co.uk. I was horrified when she told me they had no internet access there! I didn't want to waste time and money travelling there if it was the wrong dog. I called Jayne (at dog lost) to inform her and she recommended they take a picture with a mobile and send it to me. I called them back to reuqest this politely but they would not oblige. The girl then said - "oh...the dog we have has been estimated to be 4 months old not 3 years old...". I decided to leave off going there. She said this dog would probably be moved to Battersea in a day or so...just incase it fits another missing Jack Russell's description. - We live in Mill Hill and will also look out for Cookie, my older daughter goes to Hendon School and will take posters with her tomorrow and show her friends. She will also look out on the way to and from school.I work near Hendon and will look out for Cookie. We lost our Jack Russell puppy in February in Stanmore woods, and if it wasn't for all these lovely people on "Doglost" who put up posters wye would have never have got her back.If you can put up as many posters as possible that is how we got our Daisy back. - We are in Barnet (in the Suburb) and will definitely look out for Cookie. Don't despair - we were devastated when our Jack Russell went missing recently. We got him back two weeks later on Good Friday, when a lady whose son had bought him from some builders saw our poster on a bus shelter on the A1 and responded! Put up masses of posters, and give out leaflets with Cookie's details to people in parks (particularly dog walkers), pubs, the fun fairs at Hampstead Heath, Brent Cross, and anywhere else you can think of.
