Unfortunately Bird has crossed over to  Rainbow Bridge, she was found about 3 weeks after she went missing. Seems she was not that far from home and went peacefully.  Owner forgot to update us at the time.  Run free.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone for your help and concerns. It seems that the owner is elderly so not able to get on a PC and actively look, so son is coordinating, it is a shame if he does not update us but please keep looking for Bird we can't do it with out your help guys.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I did suggest they had a good search of village and put posters up everywhere so if anyone saw someone take her they would tell owner or if they found her collapsed/dead. I'm still hoping the article in G&H will turn up some info altho everyone round here seems to think it was one of my dogs that is missing! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If the owner believes she has gone off to die have they looked for her body afterall they said she couldn't walk far so she should be close by. Helpers have done all they can to get the owners to check the found dog so it's up to them now. I will continue to check any other found lurchers. Really do hope she will come home again. If the people that made the comment about Bird are possibly not from the area it is making me wonder all the more about the found dog being Bird. Would it be possible as Liz Cox has said for any one to take a picture at the same angle? no two cameras take the same picture the colours do not always match. It just seems such a coincidence dont you think? Sorry if I am speaking out of turn here but I am not convinced the found dog is not Bird! Stay safe Bird please wherever you are darling xxxx (is it not cats who go off to die they say?)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can someone please at least ask for a picture taken at the same angle. The people who have her bothered to take a picture in the first place, so I am sure they wouldn't mind!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owner seems someone has called about the found lurcher (Ashmark thank you x) she said her son thinks it is not Bird! Very sad but owner thinks she has gone away to die, I do hope not! The people that criticised her were not local and owner did not think there was a connection.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can I forward this to Bath Chronicle our local paper in Bath (nr Calne)? They have run articles on a number of dogs from our area registered on doglost and I'm sure they would be happy to help? Come on Bird, time to come home xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think it looks so much like bird but only the owners will know for sure. Is there anyone in their area who could have a word with the owners as they may not realise dogs get moved far and wide by finders and by rescue kennels. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am a bit confused about this has anyone phoned the owner about this found dog. The found has white socks but can not see properly on Birds photo. The comments made by someone that she was thin has 'those' people been spoken to? I will check back later to-day for any comments and then will proceed acording to what has been said and thanks guys for all your help so far, please keep the good work up.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ashmark I was only wondering about the found dog as I thought some one might be playing a cruel trick on the owners after the comment they had from some one and lets face it who knows what goes through some peoples minds! All cameras take different pictures and it was only a thought as it seems she cannot walk far and no sightingd. Hurry home Bird darling stay safe until you are found xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I haven't been able to. Could you try please. I did speak to the owner a couple of days ago and he was just grateful we are trying to help so I'm sure he won't mind you getting in touch. It is vital he looks at this dog asap as kennels can rehome dogs or even worse put them to sleep after 7 days if no owner comes forward. I know it is a long way from where she went missing but travellers have been known to pick up dogs and then dump them miles from home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

just a thought worth checking gardens of empty houses, didused places etc, as a local dog here wandered off and got stuck under the fence of a garden with no one living in the house, it was only at night when everything went quiet that her cries were heard. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh dear, I hope this old girl is found soon. I think people sometimes forget that as dogs age and exercise less they loose muscle and that's why they can look thin. I hope someone has her in the warm and see a poster soon so that she can be reunited with her owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bird is missing from her home, where she was put outside for a wee at tea-time and wasn't seen again. She is elderly and has medication for her skin. Owners son has been actively looking for her, and has called DW's etc. Thank you to everyone who has been so proactively looking for her today. As she cannot walk far it does sound like she has been picked up, so if someone has her then please call DL as there are people looking for Bird.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poor little Bird, stay safe sweetheart until we can get you back home. Yet another of our South West Lurchers missing. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner thinks some well meaning person may have taken her in as they were criticised for her being too thin a couple of days before she disappeared. Lurchers are meant to be thin and very old lurchers will naturally look a bit bony! So please take her home where she is loved & missed. I will cross post to LLLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poor Bird defo shouldn't be out in this weather! I will keep my eyes skinned and have faxed poster to Kennet DW who is off sick atm & emailed it to North Wilts DW + rung Sarsen Pet Hotel who take in Kennet's dogs in working hours & faxed poster. Would be worth calling Melksham & Calne police station & asking them if dog of her description has come in over weekend. Devizes out of hours strays go to Melksham police and onto Bath Cats & Dogs Home but North Wilts say theirs go to various kennels...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Probably stating the obvious - but is it possible the details for the Deerhound found in Frome on 22nd March (on found posts board) could be mistaken on gender, that is a dog Deerhound, around 10 yrs old - sounds very similar for so close on days missing and found?? xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have sent this to Bath Cats and Dogs Home, will send this round people at work too - best of luck - given the old ladies condition, I expect someone has taken her in and she is getting lots of love but lets get her home for her TLC, where she belongs xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
