Lovely outcome. Can't add anymore to what has been already said.

Agree with all the comments. How wonderful to know that Dave has been safe and well all this time. Yes what a selfless decision you have made to allow Dave to stay with his present owner. Aww they obviously love and care for him..... x

Ditto what everyone has said before well done for letting Dave go, it must of been hard for you xx

What sensible people putting Dave who is obviously settled first. I have the vet check Cassies chip when she has her annual injection. Hugs all round for all parties X

A bittersweet ending. I am so pleased that Dave has been traced, and top marks for the original owners to let him stay with the lady. Be happy, dear Dave xxx

A very brave and selfless choice, to put Dave first. It must be such a relief to know he is safe and loved and you can stop wondering.... Big cyber hug x Thanks Jayne for sharing the full facts with everyone - a most unusal case.

Re the chip: Somehow vets have got to be encouraged to automatically scan every year when they do check-ups, or evene very time a dog is seen.

I think it is so unselfish of you to let the lady keep the dog. I know it cant have ben easy for you, but of course it is probably in the dogs best interest, as he has been with this lady for 6 years, and she obviously loves him, and is looking after him well. At least you know where he is, and that he is happy, so you do have closure. You are most definitely a STAR*
DogLostXenas Mum - Area Volunteer, Norfolk
A very generous decision by the original owner, at least they have closure now and a happy one :) xx

I make that 6 years! I was living in Surrey then and would have been looking out for Dave - why oh why has it taken so long for that Microchip to be scanned! Such mixed emotions for everyone xxxxxx

what marvellous news for Dave's original owners. I hope he gets reunited soon

Hopefully, Dave will be home soon thanks to the microchip and the innocent new people can rehome a dog that needs a good home.

WoW! Lets hope this brings Dave back to his rightful home and that all will be revealed as to where he has been in the meantime. Just proves again the importance of the MICROCHIP !
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
How wonderful, lets hope he is home very soon.

Where to begin?
Had a call from the owner to say petlog sent a letter asking for change of ownership to an address in Lancashire. Owner has got the police involved as petlog could not release details due to data protection...awaiting up date from owner as police requested details and have passed onto owners.

How did Dave go missing - was he on a walk (if so, where) or at home - would be helpful to know. Fingers crossed he is found very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke briefly to owner last night and she was contactong local radio etc to try to get some support. She feels Dave may have gone down a rabbit hole - there are loads in this area. Have also alerted friend who lives in Churt to keep her eyes peeled. Also worth taking a postering in Hindhead (including the golf course) and other surrounding villages.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
