- Well said Buffysmum, I too worry about owners of lost dogs (especially elderly people) who do not have access to internet or know about doglost. We know how important chipping etc is but not everyone is as aware of the prevalence of dog theft or the greater likelihood of a chipped dog being reunited. As grateful as I am that this old girl has found a new and loving home, there is still the chance that somewhere someone is missing her dreadfully, the fact that she was found in a river may be nothing to do with the original owner at all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Wow what a lot people with crystal balls. No-one knows how this older girl came to be in the river. Maybe she fell in, it has happened before and dogs have gone missing as a result or did someone place her there?. Who knows? Not us, so we shouldn't be too quick to blame the owner. Doglady you are right about people being out there that dont tag or chip for whatever reason and yes it is the law to tag but you only have to read on this site he amount of dogs that are chipped and tagged but dont get home. Lets not forget not everyone knows about Doglost, not everyone has access to the internet and not everyone has a smart friend to help them. Still am glad this old girl has someone to look after her but never forget there maybe an elderly person out there who has lost their only friend.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I agree that it is lovely that this older girl as got a loving home to go to, but we don't know why this girl was found in a river and at the same time it is very unusual for a staffie to be kick out at this age, yes I agree there are far to many being breed by the wrong people and for the wrong reason and this type of person do not go on to keep these dogs at this age, it is the younger staffs who come in to rescues that have been kick out when they have served there purpose and the older ones that come in are of a result of being lost, now this girl could have been lost by an elderly person who for some reason did not know how to find the right people to help find her, or even had anyone to help finder not everyone knows who to turn to now and some go to police who we know are hit and miss weather they can be bothered to help and also some rescues are the same. she also could have been stolen and same thing owner may be still trying to find her, my own experience with this lovely breed when someone who as had one for this long are a very well loved pet. Not the case that all ways the scumbags who have them and mistreat them. But if it is the case she was lost, or stolen I'm so pleased she will not come to harm now with these very caring people who are going to keep her to enjoy the rest of her life. We can say well if loved she should have been chip and tag, well there are also a lot that are chip and tag and are not always found, as a result of the tag being removed or the chip not being scanned or migrating from the body. Be happy girl. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I could go on forever about the lowlife scumbags who use staffies to increase the size of their appendages and egos. There should be a moratorium on breeding these beautiful dogs who have become society's scapegoats. However, I'm so delighted that this beautiful older lady has a clearly fantastic family to enjoy the rest of her life with. Remember the later years are often the best. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- What a lovely family not only rescuing this little girl from the river but also giving her a home. Her original owners probably didn't want an old girl, not a status symbol anymore! I wish these staffies were respected more, piece said. Enjoy your new family and hope that you have a happy and long life. Kind Regards. (obviously I wasn't commenting on the genuine staffie lovers!, but these people who just have them for a trinket and then they end up in Battersea).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
