SAD UPDATE
Muninn has now been found. Sadly she is deceased and has been for some time, likely since the day she went missing. Her remains were found in some undergrowth on farmland local to our centre and identified by her rings. We are all devastated by this loss and she will be greatly missed, but at least we now have some closure and can stop searching for her. Thank you to everyone who has helped try to find her over the past few weeks.

Muninn our 3 month old hand reared Raven went missing suddenly on 12/07/18 and we still have found no trace of her.

Muninn is a captive bred, hand reared bird and is likely to approach people, especially if hungry and expecting to be fed. She is very friendly but can be intimidating as she is a large bird. She is wearing a metal ring on each leg, one red, one silver, the latter bearing our phone number. She is also wearing falconry anklets and flying jesses (thin strips of leather) that can be seen trailing from her legs in flight. Being a Raven she is much larger than a Crow or a Rook with heavy beak and a long rounded tail. In flight she soars and is much more acrobatic than the smaller species, sometimes resembling the flight of a bird of prey.

She flew free from our wildlife centre in Walcott, North Norfolk, and would regularly travel around the surrounding area but would never be gone for long and would usually return straight away when called. On Thursday afternoon she flew out as normal but never returned. This is very unusual behaviour for her and we are now quite concerned. She could have been spooked and flown further afield, getting lost and unable to find her way back. She could have also been picked up by someone, or something else could have happened to her. If she is still free then she could have travelled a considerable distance by now.

Muninn is an educational bird, attending school visits and events, and is also a much loved part of our family. She is also a companion for our other rescued Raven so is greatly missed all round.
