- Barney’s & Ozzie’s mum, Stow Fair is a bi-annual gypsy horse fair held on the nearest Thursdays to 12th May and 14th October every year in fields between Stow and Maugersbury. Gypsies arrive from Monday onwards and there are stalls of crafts with the sales on the Thursday after which everyone packs up and moves on. May fair is the larger of the two. Contact tel no Stow TIC 01451 831082. Got all this off a website by putting in Stow Fair. got me out of mowing the grass for a while :o)

- Message from owner - Want to tell everybody out there that after nearly 7 weeks Jay Jay is home thanks to the dogs lost site. She was stolen by Gypsys and found tied to a caravan with a piece of string at stowe fair. Bought for ?60 by a man with a concience who read the article in a magazine and decided after a week he would phone in, within a few hours of his call we drove 20 miles to Oxford where we picked her up. She was thinner but safe and well and boy is she pleased to be home, So dont ever give up on your lost dog, just keep trying !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Yet another success story for the countrymans weekly column. The man saw Jay Jay in there and made contact with head office, giving us five minutes to find number for owner. Due to site being down, we struggled, but a quick call to Stokenchurch Dog Rescue and they read us the number for owner from the poster they were displaying in their reception. Excellent reunion and welcome home Jay JayLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Whew - great news! That Stow fair has a lot to answer for. A dog from near me (I won't mention his name) was stolen from his garden and taken to the Stow fair - he was later recovered from the Herefordshire area by the dog warden there - he was on a 'site' roaming with other dogs - he was missing for several months - xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My mum and brother live at Bledlow Ridge so I'll ask them to keep their eyes open. Might be worth checking with Crossroads Veterinary Clinic at the other end of the West Wycombe Road incase he's been picked up and taken there. There's also a newsagent in West Wycombe, so would be worth mentioning sightings to them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- There used to be a big car boot sale in a field near the cricket pitch at West Wycombe, there should be lots of tourists, maybe cricket players around? Don't forget to leaflet the pubs - it's and area where almost everyone uses them inc dog walkers. There's quite a bit of National Trust land around, make sure they are all on message!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Jay Jays mum, I was at Bradenham this morning, poster still up at a central point on bottom access road, wish I`d checked site before I went as I could have put up a rash of posters, but will take more this evening to Saunderton/Haw Lane area where the footpaths cross over towards West Wycombe, also will put some at Bledlow Ridge. - Good news, we have had a positive sighting of a smooth haired black patterdale with greying round the muzzle spotted yesterday 04/05/08 on West Wycombe Hill near the monument. Some women were trying to catch her This is only 3 miles away. If she was taken by travellers, they are camped at Naphill at the moment. We have searched the woods and area back to Saunderton & Bradenham but no luck. If she escaped her captors she could be trying to make her way back home, so please keep looking if you live in this area, I am sure she is on her way home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I have placed a missing dog advert in the pets corner column of The Bucks Free Press, so far have had no response. We do not get a free paper in our area, does anyone know what the free papers are in Bucks so that I can ask them to do a mail shot for me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- So sorry no news on Jay Jay yet. Posters need to keep going up, and keep handing out flyers to everyone in the area. Dog walkers, delivery people, like postmen, milkmen, bin men. Poster the supermarkets, taxi offices, bus stops and train stations. Take away food shops, pet and animal feed stores, groomers, dog training schools, post offices. hand out flyers at markets, churches, football training, boot sales, village halls, community centres etc etc. Anywhere where lots of people gather. Also have you had anything in the press. Ring your local papers and your free hand out papers and try to get something in with a photo of Jay Jay. She could have been picked up and the finders have not notified the authorities. I hope you are visiting your local pounds and police stations on a regular basis and are in constant touch with dog wardens of all your local areas. Sometimes people think a dog has been found. You must keep this up, and you may need hundreds of posters, but this is the way to get sightings. If stolen she may get sold on in local pubs, so make sure they all have a poster, along with all the vets over quite a wide area. Good Luck ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Jay Jays mum, have just put a poster up near Grange Farm at Bennett End, which is between Stokenchurch and Bledlow Ridge/Radnage, its on a 4 way section of footpath and bridleway that crosses in various directions so someone may have seen Jay Jay at a point further back along these routes. - I've emailed posters to Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, Chiltern Dog Rescue, Blue Cross - Burford, Wycombe Dog Warden, Straid Vet Clinic - Beaconsfield, Brook House Vet - Bourne End, Dogs Trust - Harefield, Batteresea at Old Windsor. Not all of the vets in Wycombe have email so owner should ring them regularly - Temple End Surgery - 01494 522956, Crossroads Vet Care - 01494 459095, Holtspur Vet Clinic - 01494 689992. I'm not quite sure where Bolter End is, so owner might want to notify more local vets, etc. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
