This is good news & hopefully Romeo with follow pdq. I would recommend microchip & spaying with a tag that states that fact as well. Unfortunatly need to keep eye on pets around the area & dont leave them unattended-too many people with no scruples. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A microchip means proof of identity as far as i have been told not ownership, but obviously this helps get the dog back to owners, from other point of view stolen dogs that have since been chipped by new people, can't automatically claim it is there dog cos its chipped......welcome home little lady Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Crime number was got 1st day the dogs were reported missing and still No they were not intrested.Think a lot depends on wot police station u use as iv had very good experiances re police help with stolen/lost dogs and very poor/no help at all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Corbiere, see my post 18:57 - 14/4/2008 re Crime Number. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Surely if the theft of these dogs had been registered then the3 police would have oblig4ed to follow up? - so were they? It's important to get a Crime Number when dogs are taken! In the hope this thread is being read by lots of people - can all helpers think of registering with FACEBOOK and then joining the GROUP: DOG LOST HELPERS. We can then upload posters/leaflets to there, and get them circulated around Facebook - some younger people hve hundreds of 'Friends' and forward anything which comes in on to their whole Friends list. it's a terrific tool for getting posters around very quickly and easily - and in areas far from where a dog went missing. We should use it!! People also look to see which 'Groups' people belong ot, so that's another way of getting out the word about DogLost.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ZZ the police were just not intrested full stop, and no not because she wasnt microchiped because she was a dog and they didnt feel that was important enough. Maggie was found about 40-50 miles from her home.Dont want to give out too much info as we did say no questions asked.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased Maggie May is home where she belongs, lets hope Romeo isn't far behind. Would the local police have been willing to attend if the dog had been microchipped, as this would be proof of ownership? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to Lynn last night and have stressed the importance of owner getting a Crime Reference No. from the Police and not just an Incident Log No. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

They both have distinguishing features that people will notice. As police no longer deal with lost or found dogs the new numbers are 0151 140 0845 (Sefton), 0151 907 8300 (Halton). After 5pm and at weekends ring Animal Wardens on 0845 241 7253. Southport RSPCA dont take strays in and are closed for rebuilding but I email them missing posters as staff are still there. Check all free ad papers and websites ans as JMo daid the Echo was very helpful recently with missing Jess.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
