STRAY DOG FOUND TIED UP BY TREE IN TONYREFAIL
We really do not understand what is going on at the moment. This gorgeous German Shepherd girl is an older lady, and was found tied up by a tree in Tonyrefail five days ago. Unfortunately she wasn't checked for a chip, or reported to us or the dog warden until now. Even though it is very kind for a member of the public to take in a stray dog, we cannot stress how important it is to report a found stray to the dog warden, not to mention the fact it is also the law. Again, this lovely lady may not be deliberately abandoned and may have a distraught owner looking for her.
Female German Shepherd 8 years old
Found: Tonyrefail area
Currently doing her 7 days at Hope Rescue, Llanharan
If this is your dog, please call the Centre on 01443 226659
(proof of ownership is required)
If she is not claimed, she will move into the ownership and care of Hope Rescue after 7 days.

- Just had message on post in Animals in Manchester from lady who saw a dog walking past The Launderette on Ashton Old Rd, Openshaw on Saturday. She thinks looked like Gemma, it was old and was wet and dirty. It was headed in Manchester direction and there’s a park called Delamere Park nearby. There was a sighting of a similar dog not far from there on 2nd September. Someone is heading over there again tomorrow to have a search round

- Just had call from lady who works for RSPCA. She just seen our poster in Clayton Vale. She went out to a call on 31st August, an old German Shepherd walked from Ashton New Rd and down into River Medlock. Two men called RSPCA and followed her for around 30-40 minutes but lost her. Lady from RSPCA had a 30 minutes drive to get there. It was dark and couldn’t find the dog. Quite possibly could have been Gemma.

- I received a call this morning off a lady who lives on Garden Suburbs, Oldham. Late last night her dog was barking, she went to look and in back of her garden She saw an old dog in her garden. but the dog got away, she tried to go after it but couldn’t find it. We don’t know if this could be Gemma or not but it’s not that far and it’s 7 days since any sightings. So if anyone has links around Garden Suburbs, Limeside, Copster Hill Park

- RSPCA didn’t lose it. This dog (might not have been Gemma) had been caught by someone and they locked it in their garden. As no wardens they phoned RSPCA. They took a few hours and as so busy asked Pet Medics to call but the dog escaped from the garden before they got there. It was a connection of the Pet Medics person who contacted us to make us aware.

- Just received a Possible lead. Someone in Collyhurst caught a dog today in Collyhurst, as no dog warden RSPCA agreed to pick up. Dog was there 4 hours and escaped. All RSPCA can tell us is it was Collyhurst and it could have been Gemma but no confirmation

- Clayton Vale is such a vast area with lots and lots of trails going off in different directions and wooded areas. We looked in and under as many places as possible. We put posters up throughout there. Planning on driving round surrounding areas tomorrow to put posters up on lampposts

- The only thing with Gemma is she’s not friendly with other dogs and could stay hidden if sees one?
- 2018-08-24 23:49 samantha garrity
- Hi. We had about 5 sightings that tied in with it being Gemma. 2 people saw her at about 3 pm at bottom of Millstream Lane, one said saw go in gate of new build house. I went and spoke to him and he confirmed description and that she ran up the road. Then had two different people said saw her on Ten Acre Lane, both have roughly same time. So that’s why want to focus on Clayton Vale tomorrow. Quite a few people been searching up Millstream and around Woodhouses and Daisy Nook, no sightings at all in Woodhouses/Failsworth.
