I often delve and share the long term missing but I had missed Maddie (working through Springers and Collies actually) I will make up for missing her by sharing her now.

Hopefully bringing her back to the front of peoples mind will bring news...

I can only imagine how hard its been for her owners, 23 weeks has killed me. The ether has too many dogs and this little one needs to be home x

It must be a hard day for you Reynard, it has been a long time. Perhaps as she has been bumped people who are new to doglost may recognise Maddie. I do hope so

I have up loaded 'new' pictures of Maddie...she was probably clipped when these photos were taken and would probably now look a bit like this Shi Tzu currently looking for a home @ St Giles Kennels in Somerset.  http://www.stgileskennels.co.uk/adopt-a-shi-tzuboz_5223.htm Poor little Maddie came from Wales probably a puppy farm as she had enlarged teats also a skin condition then on to a rescue near Swindon and had been in her new home with Katherine only 7 weeks. Please have another look back at any dogs in the rescues & pounds and please send out this new poster please...THANKS.x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was up on The Ridgeway yesterday near the carving of the white horse on the hill near Winterborne Bassett (visiting family and we took dogs and kite out there) and saw Maddie's poster up there.   Must be so frustrating for owners to not know where she is and what's happened to her.   Be safe Maddie and come home soon xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Katherine Maddie's owner has been told to-day 24th that a man from HIGHWORTH went into Rouse a hardware shop in Wootton Bassett TWO WEEKS ago, as he saw a poster of Maddie and said he had picked her up in a bad way and had taken her to the vets and was now going to call the owner... he never did!! So please look out for Maddie in Highworth or she could have been taken since to a rescue. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has not been able to make anymore progress as the Police have said they past her on when brought into the Police Station at Wotton Bassett, checked out all the local pounds put more posters up. Just need for someone to come forward and give us that vital information, in confidence of course. It is very unfair when she was picked up and not to be able to find her!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A kind lady said she took Maddie to Wotton Bassett Police Station on the 21/04/08 just two days after she went missing but the Police can only say she would have been taken thereafter by the Dog Warden! The problem is we can not find her!!!! We have checked with the DW's and the stray kennels  It is possible she has now been rehomed. No one seems to have any records so we are up against it.Moochi will you have a look at work PLEASE. H e l p!.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

O/H has been up and down motorway all week not a sign of her,he also visited someone near to motorway in countryside and they have seen nothing either but seen your posters Katharine. If she had been near Prince Of Wales Pub and picked up she would have been taken to Safe Haven or one of the Vets in WB but seems no one their has seen her and bearing in mind three dogs picked up in WB last week you would have thought someone would have seen Maddie! Are you positive the sighting was Maddie? I expect you have been in the pub and asked all the locals? Most people in WB now know she is missing so if she shows herself surely she will be seen. Barney's Rabble has done her school. If you could put up a big poster on the roundabout by Prince Of Wales that would get her noticed as drivers pass that way. Hook has a car boot Sunday starting at 2pm. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Katherine, Jackie's idea about the Tesco drivers is a great one! Also target schools too (starting with your childrens one if the are that age) kids are a great source of info so if someone has pitched up with a new dog kids will KNOW and TELL ALL!!!! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The dogs at the B&W Dogs home that were all picke up @ Wootton Bassett are a Lab bitch cross 7yrs & Jack Russel bitch tri coloured. They will be putting them on found pages soon (the other dog was claimed). They took a while getting there as the rescue was full at the time and the DW was waiting for a space!!! I was just thinking - on another page, a Tesco home delivery driver spotted a missing dog a couple of times - do you have any home delivery vans in your area - maybe you could give them a poster? Or thinking further - I wonder if it would be worth approaching the Tesco closest to you to give all the drivers a poster? They are out and about early and lateish - you could try the 'your children missing her' angle - x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got drenched last night, and didn't see anyone. Went over again this morning. Gave a flyer to a fisherman just setting up at the lake, so there should be a pair of eyes there most of the day. Just wondered if you had been in to Marsh Farm Hotel, Katharine, as their bins etc might be an attraction for a hungry little dog. Keep your chin up, AlisonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well a lot has happened since the site has been down but in short it seems that a kind lady picked up Maddie and took her to the local Police station in Wotton Bassett on the 21/04 just after she went missing, Unfortunatly the police don't no where they sent her and have no records!!! The latest thing the Police are saying is that they put a call through to Division (I think Devizes) and they would have arranged for a Dog Warden to pick her up but DW's don't seem to know where she is either! So we are still trying to track her down.Moochi could you check her out again where you work please? This is now urgent so if anyone can help please post on here . THANKS

I dont think BD&CH check regularly coz they didnt match Maddie pic but i sent it on 20th, so they had it. sighting def Maddie as pink collar identified. Im Malmesbury so WB round about is nearly 8 miles or more, i used to take Maddie to Swindon with me regularly and always stopped off for walk at lake, she may remember??? Maddie has also got a thing about ducks so loved the lake!! I drove to WB but then walked area on foot, also my sister lives in WB and she went out on her bike... Have also had group of friends take their own dogs for a look around. I leaflet ped and knocked on everyones door also.I also notified all DW again of sighting. Have i answered all question????!!!! hope so, let me know if need more info, Thanks for all your help and encouraging messages.... Katharinex Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bath C&D Home are registered on here so get updates when dogs go missing in their area, but whether they check the site regularly I don't know. Reynard will you be able to phone them tomorrow to clarify what dogs have gone to them, and could we have photos please?? Katherine how sure are you that this latest sighting is Maddie? How close is this to your house? (I don't know the area??) Could she make her way home from there? Is this an area which you have walked her in before? If so, did you drive to the area or walk? Sorry for so many questions! It goes without saying that you need to poster this area ++++ AND notify the DW for the area of the sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well that is fantastic news that she has defo been sighted!!. You must be wacked by all the effort and adrenalin, tomorrow is another day so between the fab helpers and people that live in that area you should get another sighting. (The terrier types missing have not been put on here what is going on! ) Take care have a good nights kip as you will need all your energy for the day ahead.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, when i spoke to dog warden she said that they had several terrier type dogs missing from WB...... typical terriers!! sighting was def Maddie as Linda, the lady spotted her described her pink collar!, the JR handed in to vets if i remember correctly did not have collar, but would need to confirm that, so much has gone on today!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Katharine all a bit odd three dogs from the same area anyway good the dog warden knows but will Bath put them on found pages or he? If not missing from here they could be from any area in the UK so we still need to check. The Jack Russell that went to George I suppose this little dog was presumed to be Maddie in your sighting?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi, yes i had already been working on that one, DW north wilts is well aware as i have notified him and he got in touch with bath dog home, so all authorities are aware, i have gone through dogs lost to see if any stick out, the found jack russell bitch tri coloured (black and white with ginger eyebrows) was found in WB yesterday, She was taken to george vet in WB so they will hopefully have more info. Bath dogs home also had lab and bichon frese i think also found in this area... maybe worth checking but as i say i did look at dogs lost but couldnt match any.... If anyone wants to pm me for more info please do, not sure if im making much sense!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Katharine do we know where these dogs come from that has been handed into RSPCA Bath, arethey from Bath or Swindon area and are they strays or were they handed in. So the Terrier that was handed in to George Vets has that been confirmed and does the DW know about it??? Sorry I know it is hard for you but these dogs may belong to someone and could therfore be looking for them. I know all these sightings are difficult for you but at least the poster is working and the next phone call could be Maddie. Fingers and paws crossed.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Tessa's family..... I am going out of my tiny mind!!! I have had 3 phone calls, one last nite and two today saying that Maddie had been taken to vets in Wootton Bassett... I have phoned Drove vets they have not had anything in. George vets were handed a terrier and have sent it to bath dogs home. Have tried get detailed discription from malmesbury george vets but all very unhelpful with trying describe dog! and passed me to bath dogs home. Spoke to dog home bath, they have only had black lab and bichon frese handed in... what now?????? Microchipping would be the answer i suppose....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We walked round the lake and Ballards Ash this morning but didn't see anything. Also walked along the grass verge on the main road up to and just past the house but again didn't see or hear anything. It was on the side of the road opposite the house as there isn't much of a verge on the other side, the road was still quite busy and Fly wanted to walk on the road rather than on the verge! We then walked back home across all the fields but only saw a couple of deer. I've got to ferry the children to various activites this afternoon so won't be able to go for another walk but will be going backwards and forwards between Swindon and Brinkworth so will keep an eye out. Thanks for your help Barney's rabble and Tessa's family we do need your help here as the sighting is very positive, yes it is some distance for a little dog to go walk about on her own, but other factors may be working here so please dont be put off. Hope that you get your Maddie back very soon, as for the dog sitter, don't worry, you put Maddie in her care and Maddie went missing (I don't know the full story, so I won't comment too much). She should be more worried about Maddie instead of being worried about being foul mouthed. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEARCH FOR MADDIE. Kind Regards.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Katharine, can you explain a bit more about the house with the gates - I know the lake well, but can't picture where you mean. I will go over that way in the morning with Barney - about 6.20, so it'll be quiet. It isn't one of my regular walks, so I can't tell you if there are any similar-looking dogs in the area. hi, sorry if i have confused you.... the place Maddie went missing was Grittenham Grooming, Little Ivy House, Grittenham, SN15 4JU.... Sally who owns the business does grooming and dog minder/free range boarding... I have contacted dog wardens north wilts, Kennet, swindon and glos. Also contacted wiltshire police. rescue centres SDAH and denise barratt, all vets within 50 mile radius. i have sent countless emails to people including every village surrounding grittenham eg parish newsletters etc. Hope this makes it a little clearer. Katherine I am a little confused.............On the poster it says Maddie went missing from a pet sitter, in the thread it mentions a kennels and now you mantion a dog groomer. Hi Katharine, I'm a lapsed doglost fanatic, but I still keep my eyes open! Have seen all your fab posters around Wootton Bassett, and have put up a few of my own - a couple near the railway bridge on Whitehall Lane and one in the middle of one of the fields over there! I work at the local school, so have left a poster in the staff room. I don't know Grittenham, so it would be useful to have an idea of roughly where Maddie went missing from, and then Barney and I will get out exploring.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi, all, went out searching again last night... had some interesting but alsmost useless news.. met a lady walking her dog who turned out to be one of the kennels neighbour, she said she saw a small dog running around sat eve but did nothing because this happens all the time and dogs are always escaping from kennels.....she also knew nothing about maddie being lost... I am beginning to feel dispair, as Sally (kennel owner) said she had spoken to All neighbours on saturday..... clearly she hadnt, the neighbour had lived there for seven yrs and had never spoken to Sally! i know this is unhelpful info but had to get it off my chest.....thanks for posters Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

" I have phoned police, they didnt take any details just told me they dont deal with strays and to contact local dog warden " As Greylady said, you need to phone the police again. They have to take a report from you. Their excuse always is that a dog is mobile and, unlike a telly for example, can move of its own accord so cannot be termed as stolen. Don't take it from them. You don't have to. Also, keep checking with the wardens every day. Don't assume that they will check every phone call they have had every time they pick up a dog. All these people in positions who like to cpmplain that they are so bogged down with admin rarely do any of the admin they should be doing. Good luck. I hope you find her soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hmmm looking at where you are I really think you need to include Glos and Avon and Somerset n your calls to the police and DW's. Have you considered an article in the local press??Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes Maddies mum I do think you need to phone everyone again, and keep doing it repeatedly. I know that may seem to you like you are being a "nuisance" but you only get one chance to get your dog back, and this is IT! The police are right, they do not deal with STRAY dogs now, that is the responsibility of the Dog Warden. However your dog is NOT a STRAY, she is LOST.............the police have a responsibility to deal with LOST PROPERTY (sorry I don't mean that to sound cold and clinical) so they have a responsibility here to make a record of the fact that you have lost Maddie. If you had lost your purse whilst out shopping the police would need to make a record of it, as lost property. Your dog is your property too, its no different. Sooooooo please phone the police back today and insist that they do two things ~ 1) take a LOST report of Maddie including a full description, and 2) do a physical check whilst you are on the phone to them of any dogs they have had reported lost. Sadly I have seen this happen time and time again that lost/found reports are not married up, so you need to be persistant and not be fobbed off. I agree, I think Maggie has probably been picked up by someone and they don't realsise she is stolen so you need to poster everywhere...............you can down load a poster fro this site of course, and if you would like smaller flyers then we will get them done. How close are you to the county border? Don't forget to notify the dog wardens and police "over the border" too. If Maggie has been picked up then she could be a bit further away. Don't give up hope, but you need to stay positive ~ you will get masses of help from people on here too. Come on, today might be the day you get her home!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes, I think I would keep reminding the authorities, just in case she slips through the net - I think the dog warden who covers Swindon area does post found dogs on here, from memory. x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Tessas Family
I live in Wootton Bassett and will keep a look out when we're walking round the area. I have got a list of people that I contacted when Tessa went missing . I think you've probably contacted a lot of them but have you tried Swindon & District Animal Haven (07990-868887). They also have a website - www.sdah.co.uk. I was also told that any dogs found in this area at weekends are taken to Bath Dogs Home at Claverton Down - 01225-787321. Hope this helps. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had her approx 4 weeks, they think she had pups 2 weeks prior to that. She did have a little milk for the first couple of days but has been dried up for a while now. I have put posters out and had alot of help from friends etc to cover area, How far do you go? Do you think then i need to ring rescues and dog wardens again tomorrow to check and remind?? I have phoned police, they didnt take any details just told me they dont deal with strays and to contact local dog warden. thanks for your support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I just wanted to say that sometimes someone will find a dog and not know that they should report it to the police or dog warden. If you put 'Noddy' into the search area at the top you will see that Noddy was found the same day as he went missing and was taken in by some really nice people, who did in fact look after her well. It wasn't until they saw a poster a couple of days later that they realised they had taken in a dog that was on the missing list! You do need to put up masses of posters, and might try smaller flyers through peoples doors as well. I am in Lechlade, thirty miles away from you. I do wish you luck and hope you get some sightings soon. Hopefully you have some helpers in your area to help with postering. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How recently has she had the puppies, and is she still full of milk? This would mean she would need vets treatment so please make sure you cover all the vets with posters (not just phone calls). I take it you have informed the Police? Please make sure the Dog Wardens/Kennels and Police have posters too so that Maddie is kept in their focus. As most people on here will tell you, don't assume one phone call to each public body will suffice and don't automatically assume that 2 and 2 will be put together (i.e lost dog report with found dog report) as it often doesn't happen that way. When people are busy mistakes can get made and things can get missed, so please make sure YOU or someone who knows Maddie well visits the local kennels and provides everyone with posters of her so that everyone knows what kind of dog they are looking for. Keep looking and postering EVERYWHERE, as Reynard has said, 100's of posters, not just one or two. If you would like some flyers made up please ask.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to hear Maddie is missing. Please poster like mad print off 100+, poster everywhere so that everyone knows Maddie?s missing put posters up in Shops, Pubs, , Parks and hand out posters to dog walkers as well. To give them better protection against the weather, use punched pockets put the posters in so that the opening is at the bottom (you can also seal the opening with waterproof, clear tape). Speak to the local postmen and visit your local sorting office and ask them to display a poster. Also try to 'collar' the local milkman and ask them to keep a poster of Maddie to hand. Pubs are good places to target. Try to visit them early lunchtime or early in the evening when they tend to be less busy and ask the manager to display a poster of Maddie. Speak to as many of the regulars/customers as possible as they will have plenty of good contacts and will be a mine of information. Display Maddie?s poster in your car(s) and ask family, friends, neighbours, other regular dog walkers and work colleagues to do the same. Please do contact other owner(s) of missing dogs in the SW as you can support each other and poster a wider area. Please make sure you register (click here at the bottom of this page) and post regular updates so that the other Helpers in your area know where & what you have covered. Click on the Useful Links opposite above Dolly?s Directive, lots of info there, and please ask for help if you need it ,that's what we are here for. Good luck.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She may be still lost as we can not be sure it was Maddie so we still need help here guys thanks.
