- Unfortunately Ernie has been found deceased. It looks as though he has been hit by a car. Thanks to everyone who helped us look

- Possible sighting of him trying to get in to Holt Park Asda this morning at 6am. None of these sightings are definite unfortunately but we will put a few more posters up in the area

- Unfortunately we think the sighting yesterday was probably our other cat (his brother). We are keeping an open mind. He has a new outside cat home waiting for him if he does make his way back. Checking lost pet sites and council environmental health etc and no news as yet.

- If ernie has been sighted, then someone is probably feeding him. And just because you doin`t see a cat, doesn`t necessarily mean aren`t around. A cat that had been missing for THREE MONTHS, was found only ten minutes from his home, by the owners brother. A woman had been feeding him everyday. And yet she had been calling him, putting up posters etc, so you never know. Paws xd.Last edited: 2018-09-20 13:05:44

- I assume they moved after he went missing? Try and be positive. most cats come back...it is worth sticking a flyer through every door that would be in his territory and knocking on the door..ask to check sheds/garages while you are there.

- I have checked the only empty house I can see and had no luck. The occupants have moved overseas so if he got into the van, we might have little chance of getting him back, although I don't know what would happen if he was scanned abroad. It is odd that nobody has seen him, but he perhaps doesn't look like a stray. Put up some more posters today and taking heart in the fact that the weather is not too bad at the minute.

- Following on from my post, are there any properties nearby that are For Sale or To Let and where no one is living because Ernie may have slipped in with the estate agent or viewers? Also do you or any of your neighbours have supermarket deliveries? I was out recently walking one of our dogs and I saw a cat showing a lot of interest in a supermarket delivery van (nice smells!). I made a point of standing nearby and watching until the driver returned to make certain the cat didn’t hop into the van. Could you call your local supermarkets to see if the delivery drivers discovered an additional furry passenger during their next stop or on their return to the supermarket? When our cat went missing (vet allowed him to escape out of an open window whilst being treated!), I visited our local sorting office. I asked for them to put a couple of posters up in the building and also left a number of mini flyers for the posties to take on their rounds as they may have noticed a new cat on their round hanging around who appears lost and needy.Last edited: 2018-09-19 22:43:07 by Millys Mum

- Thanks janiejewel1649, my husband's been down late last night and early this morning calling for him but no sign, but we will try a trap down there if we have no news in the next couple of days.

- If all else fails. I would borrow a cat trap from an animal rescue centre, or Cat Protection (For a small donation I think). Place it around the area, Ernie has been sighted. Place inside the trap an object with his scent on; your scent too. I wouldn`t put any food/treats inside at this stage because of other cats for eg. When Ernie is home, I would put him under "House arrest" :-) for a couple of day, or he may go awol again. Paws xd.

- Thank you. I've spotted an empty house a few doors down, so I'll follow that up tomorrow.
If the sighting on Moseley Wood Croft was him, he may be in the woods - please could dog walkers keep an eye out. - 2018-09-18 18:19 Millys Mum
- So sorry to hear that Ernie is missing. As he sounds an inquisitive cat, there’s also a possibility that he could have slipped into a neighbour’s house who may have gone away on holiday or on business (also not unknown) and so when out postering and searching for Ernie, look at all the windows (whilst also calling his name) to see if he’s been shut in somewhere. Also when calling his name, stop and listen hard for a minute or so BEFORE moving on. We found one of our cats this way. He’d obviously entered a garage (in a row of garages at the back of a block of flats). I suppose he panicked when the people left or returned and moved to the far end of the garage without being spotted. I took his cat carrying basket out with me, his bowl and a fork (to tap on the bowl). I went down all the garages calling him, stopping, listening and tapping his bowl and then, joy oh joy, I heard him meowing back. Fortunately the garage wasn’t locked and so out came a very happy cat. I do hope it won’t be long until you are reunited with Ernie. Fingers and paws crossed for his safe return.

- Still no sightings, posters/ flyers will be going up tonight.
I have a feeling he may have climbed into a removal van (he sometimes gets into our car), please could you let me know if anyone on/around Tinshill Road moved house over the weekend. - 2018-09-18 01:02 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- Early days yet. Check all outbuildings, including empty houses, and cellars, THOROUGHLY, as some cats will hide in, or behind an object within, especially if timid. Empty content of the hoover onto the garden, as his scent will be there. Put some tuna, or chicken in his dish, and call him; night/early morning is best. Rattle some treats too. Wipe his scent on our garden fences, gates, doors too; anything leading up to the garden. Trya squeaky toy, as it may attract his attention. Walk round the area, holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Someone may be feeding him. (common problem). When it`s nightfall, and you are searching, use a strong torch, as the light will reflect a cats eyes. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too Ask, around, especially those with children, as they can be very observant. Also hand out posters to the general public too. Post a LOST CAT ad in a National newspaper, in case he had climbed into a vehicle, which isn`t uncommon for cats to do, Hope Ernie is home very soon. Paws xd.
