Six years since lovely Amber went missing. I often wonder what became of her. Perhaps she is in a loving home somewhere - I certainly hope so xxx

I know the owner and she has never been found. Owner feels she drowned or was killed on the railway track.

Thanks Rusty&Livvys Mum I've looked at the link you have posted but cannot see the dog you are referring to.  Thanks to other helpers who have also posted sites to look at, this is greatly appreciated.  Due to the large number of missing dogs on DL we cannot check all posts it would be great if any matched ones could be emailed to admin@doglost.co.uk to alert us.  Many dogs have been reunited by being matched on other sites.  Thanks again for taking the time to look out for them.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The dog at Animal Care is Tessa, NOT Amber. THE MYSTERY MAN WHO TOOK A CHOCOLATE LABRADOR INTO 'THE REDWELL INN'  FOR THE LOCALS TO IDENTIFY HAS STILL NOT BEEN TRACED. WE NEED TO FIND HIM TO AT LEAST KNOW IF IT WAS A DOG OR A BITCH AND WHAT HE DID WITH THIS DOG. The local papers have carried the story but he has not come forward. The search goes on. Hi, been keeping an eye on Ambers page since the beginning but unfortunately am too far away to be much help. Just thought it might be worth mentioning the Cumbria Steam Gathering on at Flookburgh this weekend which isn't very far round the bay from where she went missing, lots of travelling market/show type people etc. I'll be there on Sunday so will keep my eyes open for her. I've printed poster to put in my car window.  Good luckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have phoned Glaneils, local pound for South Lakeland, they were aware. Spoken to Margaret from Petsearch who said Lancaster Pound and the Dog wardens are all aware, she has also contacted the Citizen the local free paper. I've e mailed Ingrid Kent from the Lancaster Guardian who published the article when Amber originally went missing. Margaret  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I printed off quite a lot of posters ready to put through letterboxes in the Borwick area from the sighting at the Manor House the other week and I still have them. I was so disheartened when the dog sighted didn't seem to be Amber I did not look on this sight for over a week and missed Marie's email. Could Marie please contact me or Noelene? This is a good sighting of a chocolate lab on the loose so it does need following up. Is there a manager/handy man at Lakekand Leisure does anyone know? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi
Will still keep looking in this area as I saw a lab last weekend mouching about on Kellet Lane near cross roads with Borwick Lane. I also took poster into Lakeland leisure and the man there said he had seen a dog like Amber  recently running around the park it did not belong to residents.

The other thing that we need to be looking out for is Choc Lab puppies or cross without papers in the small adverts etc, as Amber was in season when lost and may have had an accidental mating whilst on the loose even if someone has found her and taken her in without reporting her lost they may now have more than they had bargained for.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

URGENT FALSE ALARM - PLEASE STOP ALL POSTERING ETC IN BORWICK -. I have received a recorded phone call from the lady who reported seeing the maluourished chocolate labrador, now she has seen the 'Amber' poster in Borwick says that this is NOT the dog she saw, it was long coated. I'M SO SORRY TO HAVE CAUSED ALL THE TROUBLE TO ALL THE HELPERS, BUT AFTER ELEVEN WEEKS IT WAS THE ONLY FIRM LEAD WE EVER HAD.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jackie, I really hope that this sighting is of Amber and that someone local can gain her Trust, so we have anyone in that area that can help?as owner lives in West Midlands and is not on hand to respond quickly to sightings. Can anyone in the Borwick and surrounding area please look out for her as by now she is very malnourished and needs to be found urgently if she is to survive for much longer. She has only moved a few mile in all the eleven weeks she has been missing if this is her. Why has no one reported her before? The lady who saw her was so concerned about her condition that she was going back to feed her. Please put food down for her if she is seen. The area of Borwick is very rural and so she may go undetected for a while. There is a local canal, is this where she hides and get her water supply? Please can you spread the word as I am not giving up trying to find my once beautiful girl now reduced to a bag of bones. Please look for Amber.. JackieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sighting of a very thin chocolate labrador in the grounds of Borwick Manor House, Borwick.  Lady approached her but she went under a hedge, lady went to get some food to tempt her out, but when she went back the dog had gone.  This area is not densely populated.  Please if you are in this area keep a look out for Amber.  Manor House owners have confirmed they saw this dog for a few days in a row.  Sightings were last week.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To clear up the situation, Amber was on her way to Scotland to be mated, she was given to the family who she was going to spend the week with and the daughter opened the boot of the car and Amber bolted. Heading north from Morecambe to Hest Bank.!!! She was in full season !!!The last sighting of her was by the coastguard in the afternoon of 15th April. I live in Tipton, West Midlands and she is lost in Morecambe so it makes finding her more difficult.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I live in Hest Bank and we walk our dogs around the area several times a day so will keep an eye out for Amber. There is a local kennels in Hest Bank that sometimes takes in lost dogs, might be worth giving them a ring, their number is 01524 822473. When one of our dogs went walkabout I left my number with them and an hour later someone had brought him in to them so you never know?? With reference to the previous comment about the train line, it is fairly well fenced off, the most obvious way to get onto the train line is at the level crossing which is manned 24 hours a day so she would be spotted if she wandered on there. GOOD LUCK.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm near Hest Bank tomorrow so I'll print off some posters and take them with me. Does she like other dogs? Would she play with mine? Is there any reason to think she has been picked up and taken? I hate to say it but Hest bank is very near the train line so it may be worth making enquiries? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
