Thanks for putting this on RHU Tracyb. I would not have seen this and alerted Saluki Welfare South. So good to have a fantastic outcome

Thanks to a very special lady who does such a lot for not only salukis but all dogs. This person takes in staffies and others who are due to be PTS due to no fault of their own and finds good homes for them.
Big thanks also to TRACYB. Between you all, Poppy is now safe.Well done everyone.Last edited: 2011-12-14 08:54:46 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

This is an amazing story about amazing and tenacious people who never stop looking, never give up - and do so much good. I hope Poppy settles in well. What an advert for microchipping.

3.5 years lost and now to be reunited - absolutely amazing, fantastic, miraculous. So very pleased for everyone. Definitely a heartwarming story to end the day with. :-)

What a fantastic result, and a stunning dog to boot. Liz xx

I have spoken to the original owners tonight- who is understandably a bit shocked but does want Poppy back. She is ringing the kennels to speak to them & will update asap. Its been a bit of a shock. But l would like to thank Saluki Welfare -who were also looking through breeders of this colouring to see if they could trace her. I was suprised to find out she was a rescue to start with. Will update as soon as l know more but thankyou to the investigator- PLEASE can you get in touch with me as there's some one l really need to find.
Thanks also to the dogwarden and to the kennels- who have looked after and kept this girl safe for the last 3 weeks.

OMG!!! How amazing! Well done to the 'anonymous' detective. I could only imagine the joy Poppy's owner is feeling. Welcome home at last where you belong. Huge hugs xxx

I'm thrilled to read this latest news as I felt there had to be a way to find the previous owners. What an amazing & heart-warming story at this time of year xxxxx

We have up to date details thanks to some detective work by someone who wishes to remain anonymous....for owner who is over the moon and wants her baby back....
AlisonH
TracyB and many others did all they could to trace the original owners including FB and electoral registers. Sadly all efforts came to a blank.
ML
Oh no, what a shame her original owners haven't been traced, I am sure they still wonder what happened to her. Hope that she finds a lovely home soon or something else can be done to find her owners. xx
Suziewoo
The previous owners look as if they were desperate to get her back so wherever they are now, I'm sure they would at least want to know that she is safe, even if they aren't able to take her back. Has anyone tried looking for them on Facebook or 192.com? I'm sure such a stunning girl won't be in the rescue for long x

This gorgeous girl has now gone to a rescue and I am sure she will be found a lovely new home very soon xxLast edited: 2011-12-13 09:57:04 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

There unfortunately is no contact for her original owners. Poppy is safe in the kennels where she was taken and is now looking for a new home. I get regular updates and see her too. She is stunning.

Poppy's Mum, have you seen Daisy the Lurcher that has just been recovered from a Gypsy site with the help of the Liason officer, if you think that Poppy is on a Gypsy site could you get your local liason officer and maybe the police to go with you, I do hope you get your lovely girl back soon.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would persevere with contacting the police. It sounds as if the owner has been fobbed off at her local station. Telephone the main police control for your area. I assume the owner has already reported the theft to the police and has an incident number. Poppy is microchipped so if it is her ownership can be proved. If the dog on the site is Poppy then she is technically stolen goods. If it was your car stolen and then seen sitting on the site they'd have to act so why not accompany the owner to the site to check.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for putting this dog to the top again. I am at a loss as to what to do next. The owner is reluctant to go to the site as she is pregnant and doesn't want to put herself in danger. I have advised her to watch the gypsy site from a safe distance in the hope of seeing poppy and to poster all around it. We really could do with the help of a traveller liason officer if anyone knows how to get in touch.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to Poppy's owner and  someone has told them that a dog fitting Poppys description has been seen tied to a caravan on the gypsy site near the railway. When they contacted the police station they were told there was nothing that could be done. Does anyone know the telephone number of Gainsboroughs traveller liason officer so I can pass it on to them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Forgot to say there is a fun dog show on at Marton, Nr Gainsborough this weekend 14th and 15th June. The owners are going to try and get there and hand out posters but if there is anyone else in the area who could help I know they would really appreciate it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That was spooky Tony we posted at exactly the same time. There is a country fair on at Market Rasen this weekend. May be worth going along to check if there are any dogs being sold on from the back of vans. Good luck with your search, I am still looking in the Louth, Grimsby area. have virtually covered gainsborough in posters, have forgotten how rough some parts of that town are, also been in contact with local pet shops and other business's to be on the look out, ads in local paper should be finalised this week as had trouble getting in contact over the weekend, waiting for the lady from countrymans weekly to get back in touch, as i am the policeman who deals with travellers around lincoln. have contacted local kennels as well some very kind and helpful(Ingham) and others not so(jerry green). As above have been in contact with Saluki rescue etc. Am going postering again tomorrow, i am going to try and cover some of the sorrounding villages around gainsborough.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been in touch with Tony, so far we at Saluki Welfare have not heard anything of Poppy. Big event coming up this weekend in the north so poster will be displayed and the word spread. Also will speak to any contacts just in case she is moved away from the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
