- From Ben's Family on FB "PLEASE SHARE THE LOVE ... Ben is home and safe ... Priory Vets, who played a key role in Ben's return 🙏, checked him over yesterday eve ... he has some antibiotics for a minor infection ... apart from that he seems fine ... a little wiser perhaps, but knowing Ben, it was all just another adventure ... There are so many people to thank, starting with everyone here who shared the posts, messaged/commented useful information and words of encouragement 🙏 ... Thanks to everyone who went out on foot looking for Ben and spreading the word 🙏 ... Thanks to Reigate Police and the surrounding forces, who were amazing, especially PC Joanna Timms 40847 🙏 ... Thanks to everyone who made their own posters and put them up all over the place 🙏 ... Thanks to the folks who stopped me in the streets to find out more 🙏 ... Thanks to the homeless heroes of Reigate who were key (pic in comments below) 🙏, to my sister Penny who dropped everything and visited all the vets with posters 🙏, enabling a phone call from Dan (who wishes to remain anonymous), who saw Ben in Reigate around midday yesterday 🙏 ... Thanks to the kind staff at Reigate's Market Hotel, Ash at Pizza Hut, the staff of Waterstones, all at Town & Country Fine Carpets & Flooring in Bell Street, the Town Crier Andy Stephens and The Stone House Vinyl Cafe ... And thanks to the guy who stole Ben for bringing him back into Reigate 🙏 ... My sense it was the combined weight of all our efforts that made him do this ... I'd like to believe he simply took Ben for some love and companionship, then came to his senses (with some encouragement) and brought him back ... It's been a heart wrenching and a heart warming experience ... Thank you again everyone, far and wide! "

- The wording from my below post "Further to our appeal regarding Ben the Collie/Retriever Cross who was taken from outside of the Bell Pub in Reigate yesterday.
Below is a CCTV image of a male we would like to locate following this incident.
Ben is a collie-retriever mainly dark brown in colour with light brown, and white on his legs. He has a red rope lead.
He was taken by a male from outside The Bell public house in Reigate Town centre at approximately 1330 hours on Saturday 29th September 2018. From our enquiries, this male asked people inside the pub who owned the dog, and also asked for some water to give to him. He was seen by witnesses petting the dog before untying him and leading him in the direction of Bancroft road.
Further images of this male have been identified at 1925 hours on the same day walking through Reigate and asking people in Pizza hut for a phone charger. Ben is seen following behind him.
It appears that this male may have taken Ben out of a concern for his welfare following his initial actions, and although this may be the case, Ben does need to be located and returned to his owner who is very worried about him.
If any person sees this male please call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference number 45180104316 so Officers can speak to him and reunite Ben with his owner.
The male is a white male and can be seen in the image still wearing a dark jacket, jogging type trousers, white trainers, and brown flat cap. He appears to be carrying a plastic bag.
To reiterate, it does not appear from our enquiries that this is an intentionally dishonest act however we want to reunite Ben with his owner and speak with the male in question.
Thank you for all your help in advance." - 2018-09-30 20:10 Julie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London

- From owner's FB page "UPDATE - PLEASE SHARE: Ben is still missing ... the man who took Ben was white, with stubble, average height, wearing a dark flat cap, a long dark coat, dark blue tracksuit bottoms ... Ben had a red rope style choker lead on, as shown in the picture ... police suspect the man is of no fixed address and those who spoke to him said he was as a bit incoherent and 'not all there', but didn't feel he meant Ben any harm ... he took Ben to the corner of Wagamama in Reigate, then turned left down Bancroft Road, past the cinema, towards the memorial gardens ... comments this morning suggest Ben is still in the Reigate area ... between Reigate and Redhill and Redhill itself could do with a good search ... anywhere you've seen homeless people in the local area is worth checking ... please speak to the homeless people if you can ... please let them know there is a reward and that it is safe for the man who took Ben to hand him over anywhere he likes without fear of punishment and to ask them to call 101 or 999 and contact PC Joanna Timms on 40857@surrey.pnn.police.uk and 07720 059724 ... if you see Ben, please keep him in your sight and do the same ... you can message me or comment here too ... many thanks all for the overwhelming response ... PLEASE SHARE"
