Just so pleased to see that you got Katy back and so good to see a dog that was lost before the problems has now been reunited.  Stay safe now Katy, if you were a cat you would have lost your nine lives!!!  Kind regardsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm still waiting for the T and A to get back to me but they are ignoring my emails at the moment. I'm not very good on the phone so prefer email. It occured to me in the night that Sunrise Radio which is the Bradford Asian community radio station might run the story. I'm in two minds about this because on the one hand it might flush the youths out if a reward is offered and they think the have a potentially sick dog (thats assuming that the youths in Frizinghall are the one's that have got her) On the other hand it might make them go to ground or pass her on to someone out of the area. What do other people think.? I still believe Wharncliffe, Norwood. Bargrange areas are the ones to target. Its a bit suspicious that the posters that were put up in Frizinghall station have gone It could be the culprits or it may be the railway authorities. There were quite a few sightings of the white staffie last week in this area but its all gong quiet so I don't know whether they have got wind of our search or whether its just coincidence. It might be worth us trying to poster the shops on Bradford Road at the top ofWharncliffe Road I would have thought these lovely summer evenings would have brought people out with dogs.It must be difficult to hide a dog I can't understand how she can just disappear. We will continue to ask dog walkers in this area. No further information on Barkerend area, Lesley xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi sorry but am unable to do much today but will be out again tomorrow. My friend works at Hanson School and put posters up for Domino and will do again for Katy. I also wondered about ice-cream vans as they seem to be out and about due to the weather. I had dentist appt this afternoon at Greengates and they have put poster up then had to go to ACW garden centre to pick up hedge trimmers in for repair. They have also put poster up and were quite concerned. On the way back home around teatime I drove long way around frizinghall /manningham area again but didnt see anything Two posters I'd put up at Frizinghall train station have been torn down though. Not sure whether this is just random vandalism or maybe intentional.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have emailed the T and A again tonight to try to follow up the contact that RAMSES saw yesterday. It would be great if they would run a story particularly if we stress Katy's health problems. We have also been in contact with the local councillors one of whom has put us in touch with a website called BD18 online. They are now running a story on Katy on their homepage. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this site but hopefully it will have a good local readership. The councillor is also contacting the dog warden service again on our behalf (although we ring them daily) to see if they have any more suggestions. Thanks folks you are doing a great job. MESSAGE FROM OWNER. Thank you again everyone for all you are doing. I have only just managed to log in as I had to be activated again after the technical problems with the site. Please don't think I have been ignoring your pm's. I agree with muckypaws's hunch that Katy is or was in the Frizinghall area. I don't know why its just a feeling. There have been no further sightings in the last few days. Laura and kids leafleted all the houses in Norwood area on Tuesday night as there had been a call about some Asian youths last week being seen around some garages down there with a white staffy but no response from the leaflets yet. We are offering a reward so that may appeal if it is kids who have her. A bit of background on Katy. In february she developed peritonitis in her womb and had a life threatening major operation. She almost died on the operating table and in fact the vet rang Laura mid op to ask if they should continue as she didnt expect her to survive and it would cost a lot of money to continue.(unfortunately she wasn't insured) Against all the odds she pulled through. She then collapsed a week later and had to be given an emergency blood transfusion and again it was touch and go whether she would survive. Amazingly with a lot of excellent nursing care from Laura and the dedication and skill of the vets on Manor Lane Shipley she made a full recovery. As all you dog lovers can imagine having gone through all that trauma with Katy, her disappearance now only 3 months later is a double blow. Laura is out of her mind with worry as aside from the children, Katy and her other animals are her life, and I as Laura's mother am very concerned for her. I thought you should know this as it gives an even bigger incentive to find our lovely Katy. I do realise however that you are all doing everything within your power to help. Thank you Lesley xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been having problems getting onto this site - beieve there's a problem. Seems ok now so hopefully fixed :-) Had another good drive round Heaton/Frizinghall area last night and handed out some flyers. I just have a feeling she's in that area still but it's only a hunch. Just a thought - does anyone have a contact in any of the big local employers? Morrisons, Abbey, Grattan, etc? Would be great to get something on staff email circulations/noticeboards, but hard to get in if you don't have a personal contact.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been out driving around tonight but not seen Katy or indeed any white staffies :-(. I agree with Ramses - people who are out and about daily in their jobs are good targets. I'll also look at giving posters to transport companies ie who deliver parcels etc to individuals and companies.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I got posters up in the Fire Station on Leeds Road, Thornbury post office, RSPCA, Thornbury Morrisons. Also gave some out to dog walkers in Thornbury area this afternoon. Tonight given posters to policemen, park rangers (Lister Park) and dog walkers in Saltaire. Some people had already seen posters !!! Think we need to concentrate on people like policemen etc. who are out and about a lot to try and get an idea of which areas to concentrate on. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi. I am Alien 4398's friend and have been involved with the Freddie search for weeks now - her owner Rachel is a friend of ours. We do wish you well though and have sent details of Katy to friends in the Bradford and Shipley areas. We are attending a fund raising event for K-Nine-Care Rescue in Oakenshaw on saturday and will hand out some Katy flyers to the other dog lovers who will be attending. The people who run K-Nine-Care Rescue are extremely dedicated to rehoming dogs who would otherwise be put to sleep and they will definately help to spread the word about Katy. They have a lot of contacts, dog wardens, dog pounds, vets, animal foster homes etc and will definately let us know if katy turns up anywhere during their travels. Good luck and stay safe Katy. Hi I dont have car tonight but can go out around Thornbury tomorrow afternoon. I was actually driving down around Leeds Road on Sunday as came out side road from Bowling Back Lane ( I ended up with a puncture )but didnt spot anything sadly. I will certainly make Thornbury and surrounding area a focus point though. I found out today that Carlton kennels at Otley are having a "fun day" on Sat. 10th Dogs Trust are supposedly in attendance and there will be obstacle courses etc. I will go over there and take some postersLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Owner***. The sightings in the Barkerend area were both on Sunday. The first one was on Barkerend Road and the second at the junction of Killinghall and Idle Road which I believe is going towards Thornbury. I don't know the area but there is a big park near Leeds Road hospital which is between Leeds Road and Barkerend..The dog was wandering on its own without collar. The lady who saw it said it looked just like the one on the poster. If anyone sees it wandering and it is Katy you could try calling her name. She will come to you and is very friendly- a bit boisterous. If it is her she will be very frightened by now but she is completely sound and wouldn't bite- she might lick you to death! Thanks again Lesley Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

MESSAGE FROM OWNER** A lady has just rung Laura with another possible sighting in Barkerend Road on Sunday. She is convinced it is her although we obviously can't be sure- she had seen one of our posters This is the second sighting over the weekend of a white staffie in that area. Laura has contacted the dog wardens but no news about this dog so far. Does anybody have any contact or know anybody who lives near Marina kennels in Huddersfield. Laura has rung them but they don't seem to know what they have in! Its not possible for any of us to go. there as everyone is working. Good luck with your search for Freddie to Alien 4398 and thanks again everyone for your continued support and hard work. Lesley xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's def. best to ring dog warden regularly anyway because as I understand they weren't keeping records of dogs reported missing !! Yes, it is unbelievable that the service doesnt even provide the basic administration levels required to monitor the animals that actually justify their own jobs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi i am very busy wiv searching for freddie wf4 but just wanted to wish u luck with Katy. U must be near asda. we found it quite good to put small flyers under car windscreen wipers.it hits lots of people from the surrounding areas.dont poster the trolley bays etc as they take them down. Also Bri hospital is not too far away and u could perhaps poster the car parks, staff and patients travel from all over Bradford and it spreads the word.Good luck and i will be keeping my fingers crossed for Katy's quick and safe return. I've been targeting dog walkers mainly rather than postering everywhere. Obviously don't mind postering, but don't want the sightings to stop because she has been moved or is being kept hidden. It's a tough decision. I don't know what the right answer is xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I appreciate there are reasons NOT to do this in general but under the circs wonder if it might be worth pushing the angle of reward leading to info?.. on leaflets/posters??Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll do as many vets as poss tomorrow then - not just in immediate area as if they are being careful they're not going to go to one on the doorstep? I'll call Fleet Lane kennels and if not convinced they're bothered by phone a friend who lives local to it will call in. I think handing flyers out to as many dog-walkers, etc as poss in the areas she's been spotted might be the best approach, rather than displaying them? Call me cynical but it would be the worst thing if she 'went to ground' in someone's back garden. Laura/Lesley - are you contacting the dog warden daily? I know they're extremely busy/under-resourced so it's worth keeping on to them, even if they say they'll call as soon as they have info. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I posted a poster through the letterbox of Petvax and Shipley vets on Manor Lane already have one up. I ped some leaflets off with people I know on Clifton Place. Have a drive around tonight but nothing. The ranger in Northcliffe Park already had a poster when I collared him. My friends husband is going to put a poster up in the sorting office, where he said there were 40 postmen working from. Unfortunately I'm back to work tomorrow, but will get my husband to drive me around again tomorrow night if possible. There is a kennels in Fleet Lane, Queensbury that also take strays from the area, so worth a try as well. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We think now that it can't do any harm postering all around as there are probably more people willing to help than not. Its a difficult one but as some posters have already gone in the area you can go ahead now please. Alternatively you could just give them to people with dogs in that area as they are the most likely to be helpful. There is always the chance that someone has got her and doesn't know we are looking for her- or is that too naive? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

**MESSAGE FROM OWNER** thank you again for all your help. Laura has rung all the vets in the phone book last week but they havent been postered or emailed. If Muckypaws can do this it would be fantastic. Another possible sighting in Frizinghall so we are going to leaflet all the houses in that area next. Katy was very ill a couple of months ago and needed a special diet and medication. She is recovered now but we are going to press this point on the leaflets (stretch the truth a bit) Great suggestions from you all on this forum and in private messages. We are taking on board as many of them as we can. Thanks LesleyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Afraid I've got an awful busy day tomorrow. Will probably be able to have a go Weds eve and I've asked as many people as I can think of in the area to look out. Yes, dogwalkers might be a good idea - lots in phone book. Have all local vets been postered/emailed? I'll do that if not? I just have a feeling that if it's yoofs who've nabbed her, keeping going round & round areas like parks, bits of waste ground, other hangout points, is well worthwhile as she'll be spotted eventually. Of course we shouldn't assume she is the dog who's been sighted in Friz. Stay safe Katy, we are trying to find you gorgeous girl. Kirsty x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went out when got car back this afternoon went along Canal Road, Frizinghall then up on Manningham Lane and up and down roads off heading towards the Branch pub then looped around Asda back down through Shipley then on the road back towards Canal Road up and around Wharncliffe Road .... didnt see anything. One thing i DID see which got me thinking.... contact the local dog walking services as they will be out and about regularly with other animals. Reason I thought that is one pulled out behind me on Manningham Lane only bit I got was part of the web address www.dogwalking sorry but rest of address I missed. Hi Laura. Does Katy have any particular distinguishing features? e.g. spots/other markings? I know she has the spay scar but that might be hard to spot? Just thinking, if she has been picked up, it might be good to have more evidence on which to call the police if we spot anyone walking a white staff? I can give a couple of hours tomorrow - please feel free to suggest areas to concentrate on, or I can think of a couple of places might be worth looking round. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

From Katy's owner. Laura. Thank you to everyone for all your help so far. I will try to contact you all individually to answer your queries. We are overwhelmed with all the fantastic help we are getting. The areas Katy is usually walked are: The park behind Asda inShipley. Northcliffe woods, the field behind Bargrange Avenue and occasionally Hirst Woods. There have been sightings of a strange White Staffie in the Wharncliffe road area with a group of 3 youths, and also in Roberts Park. The dog owners we spoke to had not seen this dog before. She is very friendly and will go to anyone. She can be easily tempted with food or toys. If anyone has any information or any questions please ring me on 07742848749. We have contacted all the places suggested and the police are involved and taking it very seriously. We have even had a ride in a police car around the area. Again thank you all you are wonderful. I will keep the forum updated with any progress. LauraLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Might be worth advertising on Yell.com it was something someone suggested to me yesterdayLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Emailed details to friend who lives in Shipley and walks his dog there daily. He will keep an eye out for Katy. Owner the most successful quick reunions seem to come from actively postering the area. You need to target footpaths, trees and telegraph poles. Avoid lamposts as the council usually remove them pretty quickly. Is Katy used to walking in a particular spot? Will do anything we can to help in between looking for Freddie at WF4 (our friends dog). Also Kizzy at BD11. I would also suggest you contact Fleet pound in Bradford - can anyone give us the number for this please? stay safe Katy xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is Katy friendly to approch & ok with other dogs? If I go looking I'll have my slightly narky dog with me. What's she most likely to come to - food/toys?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's worth putting an advert in the Ad Trader. One of the reunited dogs on the website was found this way. Apparently it is free to put a lost dog ad in. Also, get in touch with staffie rescue centres, sorry I don't have their details but sure they are on the internet. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi. I will send posters to vets in Shipley and Bingley. I was going to the car boot in Bingley on Sunday to poster for another lost dog. This is not needed now, so will take posters of Katy to put up for you. Don't know who you have contacted so sorry if you are already doing these things, but need to get in touch with the dog warden, RSPCA, Marina kennels (01484 426407 this is where stray dogs are taken), Abbey House vets (01274 876686, injured stray dogs are taken here), local vets. The dog warden is only obliged to keep strays for 7 days so it is important to check daily, in person if possible because some times dog wardens are logging dogs as the wrong breed. All these places should be scanning for microchips, but still worth calling daily in case she slips through. I am going into Shipley tomorrow so will take some posters to put up. Domino's (who was missing) owner tried to get a piece in the T&A, but was finding it difficult. It's still worth a try, and if there is a free local paper like the Bingley Target. It always seems to get more interest if there is some kind of angle, if it's a child's dog or someone is ill (sounds cynical I know). The T&A do have a lost section if nothing else. There is a car boot sale on Sunday at Foster Square if there is someone free to poster that. Fingers crossed for you x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
