UPDATE
AVA HAS BEEN FOUND

So happy for Sandra and Ronnie that their wee girl has been found after 16 days on the run. Very skinny and cold but on way to vets snuggled up to mum

Thank you to Harvey's Army Scotland Volunteers Fiona Halliday, Des Kane, Dawn York, Kelly and Emma Mcaleer Grahame. This result wouldn't have happened without you all!!!
Thanks also to John Roche and Colin Herbert from DroneSar for all support with drones xxLast edited: 2018-12-17 11:45:24

Ava is still missing. However she has been sighted in the last few days in the woods near the landfill site. So she is still in the area. I believe a trap has been set up and i would appreciate if people didn't go into that area for a while as we don't want to scare her off. The woods ard right next to the main road.Last edited: 2018-12-15 12:20:40 by Lesley

No the drones couldn't fly in the weather yesterday and the ground search brought up nothing. There was a plan for the drones to try again today. I don't know if they did but I just checked in with her owner and sadly there has been no sign of her. XLast edited: 2018-12-09 16:18:50 by Lesley

Any news ?
Lesley
There is a search organised for tomorrow starting at 13.00 hours at the entrance to the landfill site on Carlisle road (A73). They are meeting there as it is close to where the last sighting of Ava was and there is plenty of parking at the entrance. The owner's postcode actually brings you to the site entrance rather than her house so: search party meeting at ML1 5LR at 13:00 hours - entrance to the landfill site on Carlisle Road (A73).
If anyone in the locality is able to join in that would be great.Last edited: 2018-12-07 16:16:48 by Lesley

I thought I would update you on the progress. Ava hasn’t been found yet. There has been a drone search of equestrian land and they are hoping to continue with drones tomorrow (sat 8th). There has been a confirmed location of where she was last seen by one of the drivers who stopped and tried to catch her. They have recently seen one of the posters and phoned the owner to tell her that they had followed her down the road and that she ran into forest/woodland near the landfill site in the area. There is hopefully a ground search at the same time and as soon as I learn time and meeting place I will let you know in the hopes there may be some in the locality who can help.
Lesley
Unfortunately the search today didn't turn up anything. Ava is still missing.

Thanks GeoffA for all your help. I will pass that advice on now so Sandra has that before they go out tomorrow. I feel pretty helpless as I am hundreds of miles away. I really hope they find her soon.

Thanks Lesley - I was pleased to see that some volunteers from Harveys Army Scotland are planning a search, as you can see I am not local to the area. I included in my email advice that as Ava is a small dog, and there are agricultural buildings nearby, be sure to check between items stored in such buildings (especially any gaps between stacked bales of hay or straw, in case she has climbed up and fallen down in between). Check all dark corners with a powerful torch as she may not give herself away by barking if she is frightened.
Lesley
Just to let you know i am a friend of the owner and I registered the missing dog. I have tweeted and shared the doglost poster wuth several groups on Facebook: Shih tzu magic and Oh Shih Tzus as well quite a few lost dog groups. I believe a group of volunteers from Harvey's Army are planning a search if the area in the morning.
