Dog was inside on front door mat! Not outside - I spoke to owners and the actions seen were definitely those of someone with intention to steel. Safe now, though!!

I have respectfully to disagree with my colleagues here, as I can think of more than one theft where the culprit did not look in the least dodgy. It is astonishing what people in all walks of life will do.
