Another sickening attack and the loss of your little dog must be so hard to bear. A lot of MPs are seeking a change in legislation. Tom Brake has recently tabled an Early Day Motion #1954 calling on the government to give the same protection to Companion Dogs are currently applies to Assistance Dogs. This would give much more power to the police to prosecute. Please contact your MP and urge them to sign the motion. This really has to stop!

Debbie123. We see quite a few rescue Greyhounds, where we walk Two of them are terrified of small animals, especially cats. I kid you not.

Poor doggy and absolutely horrific - certain group of people in society use these breeds to hunt hares/foxes/for example - that may have been the case here with the 4 lurchers - very suspicious- police should investigate that - I was told 2 years ago I couldn’t rescue from a greyhound rescue because I had small dogs as they said they couldn’t guarantee my resident dogs safety

My mother in law's small dog was set upon by 2 dogs on a walk sustaining bites and shock. Even though she reported the owners, the Police couldn't take any action other than a word in their ear as the attacked dog wasn't a guide dog or assistance dog. The law stinks!!

This is awful that she was killed by the Lurchers. Is there CCTV in the area? And maybe try to find the owners? Belongs to the youths maybe? This needs to be reported to the police, in case it happens again. It could be a young child next time. Sure the police coordinators can advise here. Probably Lurcher owners who post on here are shocked, and horrified to see this, but they will be responsible dog owners. And surely the owner of the Lurchers should be prosecuted if found? Where we walk every day (Have for a few years now) There are many different breeds,. including Lurchers, not once have we witnessed anything like this. In fact many dogs, large, and small play together quite amicably.

So sorry to see this. Do you have a description of the lads and or dogs. Asking as I have seen 4 lurchers with 2 youths today acting a little suspicious and I decided to walk the other way with my dog.

I AM SO SORRY TO INFORM EVERYONE THAT EVIE HAS BEEN FOUND UNFORTUNATELY GONE TO HEAVEN
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HELPED IN OUR SEARCH - WE ARE ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED XX
EVIE WAS KILLED BY THE LURCHERS AND WE SUSPECT THE YOUTHS THREW HER INTO THE DYKE AS WAS FOUND UPSIDE DOWN-PLEASE ANYBODY WALKING THIS ROUTE PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE WHO THEY HURT

So sorry to hear about Evie. My heart goes out to her family, Nightie, night, Evie, sleep tight, and have fun with Scooby who has also passed to the bridge, and is waiting to play. Dog owners know or should know the personality of their dogs; Are they likely to chase other smaller dog?, eg Evie. If so they should be kept on a lead. I know most dogs are fine .
