- Check ALL outbuildings, including empty houses, and cellars, THOROUGHLY as some cats will hide in. or behind an object within, especially if timid. Remember too that cats have very flexible spines, which enables them to squeeze into very small spaces. I found this out when I had my first cat, but it is a fact. Always take further looks as cats can stay very still, and quiet, even though their owners are present, because they feel very anxious being trapped. Place his UNWASHED blanket into a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave in the garden in a shelter spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Walk around the area holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Could someone else be feeding him? As unusual for him to stay out for longer than usual, then my best guess would be that he is shut in somewhere, as I am sure the owners think that too. Ask around, especially those with children, as they can be very observant. Good that you have done so much postering. Also ask family friends, and neighbours to share as well as DL Twitter too. Post a LOST CAT ad in a National newspaper, in case he has climbed into a vehicle, which isn`t that uncommon for some cats to do. When you are searching, wear the same deodorant you use on a day to day basis, as he will recognize the scent, and your the one he trusts. And is there a dominant cat (A bully). As sometimes they will chase a cat out of it`s own territory. However the chased cat usually returns when they think is`s "Safe" enough for them to do so. Paws xd for his safe return.
