Thanks Naomi. Owner is taking the softly softly approach on his other missing dogs-he has people who move in the same circles making enquiries.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

From the Calendar news webpage.....News Headlines.......... (Newsdesk 0113 2228760)......................... Dog breeder reunited with stolen hound ....................... 14 May, 2004, 7:35....................... A champion Crufts breeder who had seven dogs stolen from his kennels in North Derbyshire has been re-united with one of his prize dogs. ..... Thieves stole Jack Price's champion border terrier, called Tinker, but after a national campaign he's now been reunited with Tinker and one of his puppies. Five other dogs are still missing. Jack's now joining calls for a change in the law to make stealing animals an offence in its own right. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just read todays Daily Mirror-blink and you will miss it! a small bit on page 19-again no contact details or details of Jacks other missing dogs-the press obviously just want a success story of sorts! Right Jack is coming here today for Calender and I shall be here to insist that details of the other dogs missing are broadcast and a contact number and website address are broadcast.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just spoken to owner-He met this guy at a garage-the guy expected him to pay him ?400 for the dogs-owner did not pay-The registration number was not listed-however we do have a lead on who he bought the dogs from! The guy rang him after spotting the dogs on the internet-so if you are reading this now hand in the dogs as they will be on Calender news tomorrow evening and will be the hottest dogs around this area! Have just been informed they will be broadcasting live from the doglost office!!!!! I apologise for any mistakes that I am bound to make!!! But hopefully the coverage will help get the other dogs back safely too. Astrids owner will be on as well-she is also on Look North on Monday evening so double exposure for her. I have a really good feeling that these dogs will get back!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's a good idea - but remember people do move and dogs are sold (genuinely) without people changing the information. It would get very confusing for vets and may stop a sick animal been treat. Liz.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good thinking Eris - it seems so sad to think these dogs might spend the rest of their lives 'hidden' somewhere and just used for breeding.....but it's a shame they weren't microchipped. -----I begin to think it should be compulsory and all vets should have to scan dogs and confirm ownership prior to any treatment.....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A Border terrier that looks as good as this one if it arrives amongst the "terrier" fraternaty they will be itching to show it at a terrier show. The people to contact to find where the working terrier shows are the local hunts or the shooting press. Dont forget to contact the District commissioner of your local PONY CLUB and see if they will get their members involved in the search. Lists of the Pony Clubs for that area (lots of keen pony owners with alert eyes who are usually also pretty good at dog recognition and ride over the local commons!) can be found at http://area.pcuk.org/6/ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agree with Fido..It is so frustrating that the police just dont do anything anymore (about anything) but when its your dog it's personal...take my money,my handbag but dont dare take my dog!!! Are there no dog lovers in the police force or government???? I'll get off my soap box now!! Hope you get all your dogs back!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What do we have to do to get the Police to act? Do we have to march on parliament-I get so angry reading all these posts and most of the time the police do not act-i can only imagine how angry the owners feel.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Having spoken to the owner he is pretty sure who has stolen them-in fact the guy threatened him just before they were stolen-actually saying to him that he had better watch his dogs as it would cost him alot in vets bills and he was after them! This though in the eyes of the police is not enough evidence!!! The man in question had been challenged for being on this mans land a few days before the first theft and had not taken kindly to being sent packing. WHEN WILL US DOG OWNERS HAVE PROTECTION_LET ALONE DETECTION BY THE POLICE FOR OUR DOGS?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is so sad. I hope that with the repeat theft aspect and the high profile of the dogs the police may take more action than usual (lets face it, it would be hard for them to take less action!)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

this is terrible the poor owners having 7 dogs stolen like this .this was posted on the border terrier site on monday . why cant people keep there hands to there selfs and leave other people animals alone . trouble is the police and courts dont do anthing to them and it is treated as a victimless crime which it is not by no means the poor dogs and owners . my heart goes out the the owners fingers crossed that they turn up soon.
