- It's brilliant news that Gus is home as I think it is more difficult tracking them when they have been stolen. I agree with the other posters re tying dogs outside "for a few minutes" I will never do it mine as I dont want to take the risk. On Friday I saw a guy tying up a jack russell pup outside Morrisons so I spoke to him and told him dogs are often stolen in these situations but was more or less told to mind my own business. I even offered to wait with the dog til he came out. He must have thought I was going to pinch it so he unhooked the dog and walked off. Maybe he will think about it now - who knows!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My goodness, that was stroke of excellent luck getting him back under those circumstances, with him having no microchip either. Gus deserves one as a welcome home present after all he has been through. There is no way I would EVER be tying my dog up anywhere and leaving it for as little as 5 seconds. In the current climate of dog stealing, anyone would be very lucky to find their dog there when they came back. Would like to hear the whole story of how he was found - and trapped?? Welcome home GUS xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- So very pleased to see that Gus is now safely back home with his family. Can't quite make sense of the story, perhaps it's me, but anyway the main thing is he's back. Personally I wouldn't be leaving a dog tied up outside anywhere these days, it's just not safe to do that any more it seems. Also a chip would be a great welcome home present for this lovely chap. Be safe now Gus xx

- e mail from owner:
Dear Doglost team,
I am writing to inform you that our dog, Gus, the labrador was found last night up where he had been handed in at a police station over 80 miles away. He had been handed in by the dog snatcher after being trapped. I cannot thank you enough for all your incredible help, support and information at a very difficult time for my family. Thank you so so much,
All the best, Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2008-07-12 16:28 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- To print posters when logged in select Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information. You can also find vets in the area and surrounding areas by clicking on the logo 'Find any UK Vet' which flashes up underneath Latest Missing photo. If anyone local can help with postering would be greatly appreciated. Local papers are going to be contacted by family but they are not available until Monday. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- What a horrendous thing to happen while so far from home. Hope this boy is found soon. What a pity he is not microchipped. It would make re-uniting him with his owner so much easier.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Owner was going on holiday travelling South bound from Scotland and stopped off at Knutsford Services for a break. Gus was tied up outside for approx 10 minutes when owner returned he was gone. Police have been informed and have issued a crime number. CCTV is being viewed. Have spoken to owners relative who has reported him to DL, thanks for sending photo so quickly. Owners are from Scotland and do not know the area. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
