- Oh I am so sorry. This is such a sad ending but you do have closure. Remember the good times and happy memories. They can never be taken away. Run free little one at rainbow bridge, no one can hurt you now.

- Thanks everyone. We live in such an awful world and it is so nice to see that there are still some decent people out there. Thanks for caring. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Oh Kerry, I'm so very sorry about this. Poor Sam. At least you now know what happened to him, and that he's not suffering. Rest in peace little boy xx

- Kerry I'm so sorry. I know that although Sam wasn't your dog he was very special to you and you've been so kind in all your efforts to find him. I'm sure Sam will still come and visit you every day in his own way Kerry. Run free at Rainbow Bridge beautiful boy XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Sadly Sam is dead. I heard about the body of a dog that had been seen at the beginning of the week about 5 miles from here and when I just went to check, the body is still there and it is Sam. He was very badly decomposed and hard to identify but when I turned his head over the little tooth was there sticking out to the side. What sort of world do we live in where people will see a dead dog and yet no one even bothers to do anything about it, not even ring the cleansing department. So many people must have driven past him. Thank you so much to all those that have helped to try to find him. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Kerry, you're doing really well, I hope the owner appreciates the efforts you are making to get their dog back. I can only say you're doing all the right things, the power of the poster has been proved. I realise it's a very different scenario in rural areas, postering is a different matter in busy suburban areas where they are seen by a lot of people. However, it's still the most effective thing to do, it only needs that one person to see him and the poster and get in touch. Keep safe Sam and come back home quickly - your friend Kerry is missing you and working very hard to get you back xx

- Hi Bessie and Barney's Mum I have been taking or sending copies of the poster round to vets, rescues and rescue shops that will display them. Being so rural it is very difficult as one dog pound is two hours away in one direction and the other is two hours away in the completely opposite direction. I am slowly working my way further afield sending or taking info to all the places that might be willing to post them or might have the facilities to take dogs. I don't know whether he had been hit it was just an option that I was looking at. I am more attached to Sam than the owners and I am devastated at his loss. He used to visit me daily as I have the adjoining land and he would stand at my back door and bark until I came out. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Kerry, I guess the best thing to do is to send a hard copy of the poster to the rescue centres/kennels/pounds, then at least they have a picture to compare with any dogs they may have in. You may have already done that - you are certainly being very supportive of your neighbour. Also you could send to vets in and around the area, a lot of them are very willing to display posters in their surgeries. Was Sam actually hit by a car? Or was that one of the things you thought could have happened. Be safe Sam xx

- Hi Bess and Barnie's Mum Thanks for the suggestions. I have already done all those options or tried to, but it is like beating your head against a brick wall. People have this strange idea that if a dog is lost in one area then it is bound to be found there and sadly this is often not the case. I remembering picking up two dogs that were lost, luckily one had a collar and disk on. They had travelled over thirty miles in three days. We are in a very quite rural area and if he was round here anywhere he would have been spotted by now. I had hoped that with the internet now available people such as dog wardens and dog pounds would have the facility to take photos but it seems that most don't. The nearest dog pounds to here are a two hour drive away which makes it very difficult. KerryLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- If Sam was hit by a car he may well return to the same place once it's quiet and he's calmed down a bit. He may hide out somewhere near so it would be worth checking back early morning or evening when it's quieter. Poster around the area as well, someone may see him and get in touch. Local dog warden should be contacted, he may be able to help, and also rescue centres/kennels in the area should be visited regularly, don't rely on phone calls, they don't always match the description given with the dogs they have in. Good luck with the search, be safe Sam xx

- This is my neighbours dog but I am helping search for him. This evening I checked the headland but with no sign of him. He could be anywhere having been hit by a car and ran off in panic or stolen. Please whereever you are in the UK look out for him. If he has been stolen he will try to escape as he is very attached to his home. He might be timid with strangers but if you move slowly and call his name he should come. Many thanks KerryLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
