- found dumped ina field about 30 miles from home. From his FB page:
Hello Everyone, apologies today has just been manic and at last, I am able to tell you the story of the miracle which is Dexter's return. Just after 6.00pm yesterday evening, Dexter's dedicated phone rang - I can't tell you how many times I have looked at it over the last 3 weeks and prayed that one day it would ring and a voice would say "I think I have found your dog" - well that is just what happened. A wonderful man called Jeff had been walking his dogs in Upton, saw my poor little scrap and managed to pick him up after giving him a few treats. He took him to a nearby stable yard to ask if they had lost a dog and someone realised that he could be Dexter, found his FB page and rang me.
Even then I couldn't believe that it would really be him but when he wound down his window and I saw that little sad face looking up at me I knew it was true. He was so happy to be home and Bella rushed up to him wagging her tail as if to say, where have you been!! He was very thin, with matted ears and tail and not a few ticks, but apart from that appeared to be unharmed.
First thing this morning he went to the vets for a checkup. He has lost 2.5k in weight and has also lost a lot of muscle strength. He has been treated for ticks but with the right diet should make a full recovery. Bella doesn't understand why her friend is too tired to play their usual games and why he is so quiet but hopefully, he will soon perk up with lots of good food, rest and many, many kisses.
The two photos on the right of the new banner show him just a little while after he arrived so you can see what a state he was in.
My thanks to everyone for sharing his story and keeping me going over the last few weeks. I firmly believe that the power of FB did make him 'too hot to handle' and the thief just dumped him. Thank goodness the lovely Jeff decided to choose that particular field to walk in that evening. Blessings to you all xx - 2019-06-13 22:10 Poochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team

- Hi Everyone
FURTHER UPDATE on the Dexter Investigation, the theft of the one-year-old Shih Tzu in Langport also under the page missinginlangport
First, we want to say thank you to everyone that has shown so much support to Barbara, Dexter's owner, which is making a big difference on how she is managing to cope through this tough period in her life. Your continued support and kind comments really make the difference so please keep it up.
We are still attempting to track down the woman who witnessed the theft as detailed in our previous post and the young man seen walking an identical dog in Eastover. We have a possible address for this lad and are chasing this up tomorrow and will update you with the outcome.
Frustratingly, despite all the signs that are up and an extensive leaflet drop we have yet to locate our PRIME WITNESS and are now working on the theory that perhaps she is a health worker for the NHS or care giver who is an infrequent visitor to the area.
We have also re-interviewed one of our main witnesses who now thinks that perhaps Dexter was put into a car heading south out of Langport towards Dorset.
This is where we would like your help please. We want to reach into all the main towns of Dorset and get Dexter’s image shared to as many people as possible. Therefore, if you know anyone who lives in Dorset or have Facebook friends in that area please share his poster. We are really interested in reaching people who work with dogs, groomers, pet stores, dog walkers etc.
Our experience of opportunistic dog theft is that after three weeks the thief will usually have sold or given the stolen dog to an unsuspecting new owner who may not understand the microchipping law.
Do you know anyone who has recently acquired a Shih Tzu in Dorset? Remember the person may not know the dog they have taken on or bought is stolen so they could be a friend or neighbour.
Please spread the word and lets FIND DEXTER
Thank you

- Update on Dexter’s FB Page:
⭐️STOLEN IN LANGPORT⭐️
Our beloved Shih Tzu Dog, Dexter, was stolen from Langport, Somerset on Saturday 18th May at around 3pm.
We miss him desperately and want him home again.😢
He escaped from his pet sitters garden and was last seen being picked up by a man and put in a car at Field Road on the A372.
If you’ve seen him, if you’re the gentleman on a motorbike who stopped to put him in a neighbours garden, or the lady who spoke to the man who put him in his car, then please get in touch.
Even if you can’t help with information, please, please can you help by helping get the word out on social media, particularly to anyone you know in the Langport area.
Please help us #GETDEXTERHOME 🙏🙏
We are offering a reward for his safe return. We just want him home. - 2019-05-27 09:13 VetsGetScanning
- Facebook post:-
Hi Everyone
We need your help please?
I am currently working on an investigation in Langport, Somerset where a one-year old Shih Tzu boy has been stolen.
The investigation is progressing but for personal reasons the owner is not able to give the investigation her full commitment and on occasions is feeling quite low and desperate.
Last night she was blackmailed by a man who called and said that unless he was paid £600 then she would never see her dog again. Barbara paid the money and the man never showed up.
This was an incredibly cruel thing to do to a woman who just wants to be reunited with her dog.
Could I ask you to like the page we have created for the recovery of Dexter and send Barbara your words of support. That is all she needs right now and it will help her get through this tough time in her life.

Thank you
