- Hi, need a picture ASAP. Poster everywhere, the co-op, local shops, takeaways, the taxi offices, lamp posts. Give leaflets/posters to dog walkers. Speak to local people and children, so everyone knows he is missing. Postering is often the quickest way of getting dogs back. Someone may have taken him in locally and not know who they should inform. Also need to inform the microchip company and the dog warden. They board stray dogs at Marina Kennels in Huddersfield, not sure if they use anywhere else. Injured stray dogs go to Abbey House Vets. All strays should be scanned for chips, but it is ESSENTIAL to check with the dog warden and the kennels they use every day. They are only bound to keep dogs for 7 days, after which they may be put to sleep. If at all possible you, or someone who knows the dog, should visit these places because when they are logged sometimes the description may be incorrect or misleading (especially as he is a cross breed). I know someone who called Marina and they weren't even sure what dogs they had in that day, so don't just rely on phoning places. The police don't deal with stray dogs, but worth calling them in case anyone has phoned them about a dog. Put up posters in Gatehouse vets, and other local ones (and show them the posters so they can be on the lookout). The best way to get him back is to cover all bases. The T&A don't put missing dogs in the paper except in the lost and found section (I think it is Friday but not sure) but still worth putting a notice in. I am not far away so if you need help with postering just ask. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
