Bears family has posted an update on how Bear was found.
So interesting to read and sums up the classic 3 things to remember with a loose dog
1. Bear was found where he went missing from
2. He was in survival mode not even recognising his family
3. His family remembered the advise they had been given on how to get Bear back. Keep low, no sudden movements or loud noises. They let Bear come to them
Excellent news and well worth the read
I’m sure some of you want to know what happened last night so;
7pm last night we went up to Hawkbatch car park in the Wyre Forest to put down some tins of sardines and the motion detector camera, as this was the last place he was seen at midday on Thursday. We saw a few people who were there Bear hunting. We had a quick look round then made our way home. For those who don’t know the forest, it’s a huge area, you can get very lost very quickly as we have done most nights this week.
Once home we started planning the weekend of Bear hunting, when and where we should go.
Around 8ish we got a call from Ben and his wife saying they think they’ve seen Bear in Alveley, that’s the place he went missing nearly two weeks ago. We asked them to clarify what the dog they’d seen looked like, they said we’re sure it’s Bear, they described his collar and harness, we thought it was a hoax, they described him so accurately. We asked them to try and get a picture then got dressed and jumped in my truck all the time thinking, he can’t be back there but we’ve got to go and check it out.
Whilst I was driving Sharon, my wife, got some pictures through on her phone, she said, oh my god it’s him!! I may have started to drive a little faster then.
We pulled on to the Alveley trading estate, all the way down to the bottom where we saw Bens car, his wife directed us to where Ben was, in the country park trying to trace him. We found Ben who had, just minutes ago, seen Bear running through the park paths. Me and Sharon split up to give us a better chance of finding Bear but we couldn’t trace him. We spent over an hour searching the visitor centre area with no sign.
My brother and his wife were on their way to help us search and it was getting dark. I drove my truck round to the visitor centre car park and sat with the engine running as advised by the doglost uk trackers I was in contact with via messenger but no appearance.
Deciding I ought to go back down and find Sharon, I started walking from the visitor centre back down to the river. I didn’t want him to cross the bridge as this would take him back into the forest, we’d not find him easily in there. Continually looking I passed an opening in the hedge which surrounds the path, looked across a meadow and saw this little silhouette in the hedge on the opposite side, probably 80 metres away, had to squint my eyes and really concentrate, it was Bear, just sat there staring at me. I phoned Sharon, told her, he’s here, I’m staring at him!
I got down on my knees and called him quietly but I got no reaction, nothing at all, he just sat there staring at me. I kept calling him and calling his families names, daddy, mommy, Jasmin and Max, kept repeating all the names he knew. I honestly think he had forgotten who he was, no reaction at all. This went on for 5-10 minutes, calling all the names, both of us staying still. Then he stood up, took a few steps towards me and sat back down, I kept softly calling all the names, he was starting to remember, standing, taking a few more steps, getting closer and closer. My b

Have the rail network been informed if near the tracks, also, dogs tend to stay in the area they went missing from, so he is likely to return to the very spot or thereabouts
