thankfully happy ending but why was a 12 week old puppy not on a lead?

Wow! that was a HUGE save - congratulations to all involved! You protected her from predators and created the environment for her to feel safe enough to bark :D

The first 16 weeks of a puppies life are a critical period and this will have been a traumatic experience, the effects of which could last a lifetime. Breeder needs to seek behavioural advice from an ABTC accredited behaviourist and inform any future owner.

If the breeder's selling/sold the litter I hope she reimburses everyone involved in the search.

Fabulous news. Working mummy dog to bark out and listening. It took until the birds went to bed and a tip-off from a lady who thought she may have heard a small bark the night before. We worked a small grid sitting talking then listening. Amazingly after following a few barks and waiting sat by. She was very close. So so relieved it’s a big old forest and although she was still just on her walk grid she wasn’t near lost point. Brave girl for barking out. Let's hope patience pays off today, hunger should draw her out soon.

Today we had a positive sighting in the rhododendron bushes close to the barrier which is marvellous that she’s up and about and not static hiding scared.
The constant flow of dog walkers I feel has kept her scared to present especially with off lead chargers which caused the bolt initially.
I set a trap near the sighting and left it quiet until well into nightfall- leaving site sadly at 10.45pm. All day from lunchtime until mid evening owner was present with mum and dad Chihauhaus mum bring very vocal. Alas the later time we sat around a bbq mid way chatting but nothing.
It’s a start and hopefully the food trap can be situated and set for the whole day tomorrow if we can get watchers as public dogs are a constant threat.
Poor little foxy why did she not come to her mama 😩Last edited: 2019-07-16 00:01:48 by KatieF - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset
