Absolutely gutted to be writing this update. I have had the message from Nzuri’s owner Pete....

Hi Claire, I wanted to message you before I put out a broader FB message.
We received a call today after someone spotted a spaniel in the water.
Sheena and I have just come back from the location and sadly the dog spotted was Nzuri. It’s looks like she has been in the river from the moment she ran off. Her body was found approx 4 miles downriver from the area she ran off. We managed to retrieve her and she has gone for cremation.
We are of course devastated, but glad we have closure.
I really want to thank you for all your love, advice and support, it made a huge difference. Thanks so much. Pete, Sheena, Seb and Harriet. Xx

Sending lots of love to Nzuri’s family at this difficult time. Sleep well beautiful girl, you touched the hearts of so many people 💕 xx

Hi ok well as best I could I searched all along the bank between the green bridge and the Woolley footbridge posters are up and I asked everyone I saw to keep looking. Have sent an advice poster to your mob no
Pete
We don’t know for sure. She went into the bushes next to the river and as she loves water it is highly likely she did.
Cath
Hi no probs did she go into the water
Pete
Hi Cath, thanks for taking your time and helping.
She went missing on the edge of the river bank in Haughton Dale Nature reserve, just at the bottom of Gibraltar lane. Turn right at the bottom of the lane, into the open field and she went about 100m along the river.
Thanks, Pete

Cath
Hi went around the vale yesterday and checked river too along all banks no sign. Stopped regular dog walkers and asked but no one has seen her.
Where about we’re you when she went missing?
I am going today again any direction would help thanks.
Cath
