- Rberry you can write a letter asking that it is passed onto new owner by the Council. Sadly for you the law is after 7 days dogs can be rehomed . True no central database & dog wardens don't have the time or resources often to post all Strays on doglost it would be fab if they did BUT volunteers can offer to do this if they get intouch with the DW. The other problem is that some areas don't have a dedicated Dog Warden & rely on subcontracted people who then use Private Kennels for dogs to stay during the 7 day period. - RBerry how did you find out MOLLY was re homed?
- 2021-04-02 00:44 LupusSarcina
- It should be law they post FOUND dogs on here.
Many many do so need to be thanked for that
So why not make it a legal requirement for the rest.
What makes me made is that there are Dog Rescue charities that consciously do not trace dogs :(
Even when they know they have rescued a stolen dog :(
I had a stinking row with one charity over this, her answer was the dog is going to a good home.
mine THE dog HAS a loving home and broken hearted family looking for him.
They rechip :( so so wrong. - 2021-04-02 00:30 Rberry
- The pound that she went to use dogs lost (have taken evidence of that time from
Their fb page) but did not advertise Molly. Mir did they search it for dogs lost!!! - 2021-04-01 22:30 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- I think ALL Dogwardens should as part of their job advertise (with picture) all found dogs on a central register. It must be a nightmare trying to trace a lost dog now, there are so many lost and found sites.
- 2021-04-01 21:42 Doglover
- So sorry to hear about Molly..such a shame that dog warden did not marry up your lost dog notification to them when they found Molly..xx
- 2021-04-01 20:14 Rberry
- The chip details were not up to date. However, we called council, dog warden, pound and all local vets. The dog was found/taken out if the area though and there appears to be no central data base
- 2021-04-01 16:16 Me N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
- Owner details may not have been added when dog chipped or may not have been up to-date. In theory Dogwarden should have checked for chip and some rescues check as well.
- 2021-04-01 16:10 Carol G
- Have I got it wrong, if you loose your dog and its chipped, does the dog warden not ring you to say its been found.
- 2021-04-01 14:08 RosieDoc666
- I’m heartbroken for you. That this can happen...just awful. 7 days is just not long enough to find owners
- 2021-04-01 13:51 Vizslamum
- How awful. Surely there is something you can do to get her back? xxx
- 2021-04-01 13:42 Mena Viana
- disgusting from the dog warden a dog that is microchipped
- 2021-03-31 22:14 Rberry
- Molly has been traced to a new home. The dog warden took her and gave her to a rescue to rehome after 7 days. Apparently by law that’s all we get 😌

- Sorry to see that MOLLY UPDATE is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (147028)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
