The person who found the dog has commented on this facebook post in the last hour saying he found the dog today - https://www.facebook.com/groups/272782783107366/permalink/869430173442621/ - for those who have not got facebook he says the following: Simon Stone Good evening all, I was the finder of this poor Dog earlier today. Can I clarify several things, it was basically skeletal remains, there was a modicum of skin over the legs and the skull. There was some fur/skin on the rib cage on the left side which was laid on the ground. I checked for a collar, not present. I removed the coat to photograph it as I felt the remains were too distressing to post on social media. The coat is buried with the dog. I am not a Vet but you don’t need to be to work out it’s been dead a while.
The Dog was found on a quiet part of a Nature Reserve, I had gone in there to check on bird boxes which we had put up in February . I wanted to check a visit counter.
The Dog was laid at the bottom of a tree, just as if it had gone to sleep there.
I couldn’t walk away and leave it there, and buried it as an act of respect to a fellow creature.
I haven’t reported it to the council/Police but will give a report to my employers who manage the Reserve.I know where it is buried and should anybody come forward with information or wish to reclaim their pet then I can arrange access via my Manager.

I agree Mr. Fox, Can we give this poor dog a name to take to the bridge as not "Chipped"?

This poor dog was originally found on June 9th. The body was being reported to the landowner but we had no further update.
