Absolutely marvellous news! Well done to the very kind person who returned Cassie to Bleakholt. I hope the person who stole her gets caught too now! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just been looking on Bleakholts website for another of our lost dogs and noticed that Cassie is home Cassie - FOUND !
Cassie - FOUND !

The great news is that a member of the public has found Cassie ! She came back to Bleakholt yesterday and seems fine from her ordeal. Cassie for those who dont know was stolen from the runs at Bleakholt on Monday evening by someone (the police have the CCTV).
It appears due to the papers and websites showing photos of Cassie the person who stole poor Cassie must have panicked and let her loose. This was very dangerous as Cassie could have gone near a road and had a terrible accident. Thankfully someone found her and realised she was the missing Cassie from Bleakholt
Cassie seems fine and everyone is very happy this great dog has been found and has not had any accidents or been mistreated.

http://www.bleakholt.org/ For anyone who can't view the link above it states, "On 18th August 2008, Cassie, one of our long term resident dogs and President of our Kid's Club was stolen from one of our dog runs on the Sanctuary. Cassie has been undergoing training with a dog behaviourist and was not yet ready for re-homing. She needs to complete her training so if you do see her then please give us a call. She is a large, lively girl so you won't miss her. We are offering a reward for her return so keep your eyes peeled. A larger picture of her can be found on our sponsorship page". I believe Cassie also appeared in Manchester Evening News on Friday or Saturday so brilliant coverage for her. Lets hope it helps her safe return and a forever home x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Does the shelter keep records of those who have applied to rehome a dog from them?  Was anyone recently turned down for rehoming this or any other dog at the shelter?  Say, after a home check, etc.

I'm absolutely amazed that someone would do this! I'm hoping to be in Bury at some point this weekend so I will try and get down to Bleakholt. I've sent them posters in the past of dogs missing in the Bury area so it's only fair I return the favour. Need to get these 08 number bar taken off my phone though! If anyone from Bleakholt is checking this page, please feel free to call me on 07912 609 407 Thanks, Vicki Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can't contact sanctuary as mobile has 08 numbers barred and I'm in work at the moment. Could another co-ordinator please contact and let me know if there's an alternative number I can contact them on? Thanks, Vicki Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dog stolen from animal sanctuary

Concern is growing for the welfare of a dog stolen from an animal sanctuary in Bury, Greater Manchester. Police say a stranger entered the pens at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Bury Old Road, in Shuttleworth, on Monday afternoon and took a cross breed dog. The seven-year-old black and tan bitch, called Cassie, has been at the sanctuary for four years and has been microchipped. She was stolen at about 1645 BST. Police are appealing for information.
Great to see lots of news coverage on Cassie.  With all this media coverage and her being CHIPPED fingers crosssed it is not long before she is in the BLUE.  Found another picture showing more of her body so we can see her markings/colouring a bit more, now uploaded.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
