So sad, yet another rescue dog that doesn't make it.

This is so sad, she came here for a better life and then this happens. Fly high lovely girl xxx

Dreadful. As an aside EU law pertaining to commercial movements on animals (which rescue dogs are) they DO NOT ALLOW the animal to disembark before their destination as written on TRACES. They by law have to stay on the transport vehicle until they arrive at destination, the transporter shouldthen place the animal where he or she is going for 48hrs, animal safe. Should never have happened.

RIP SIGGI

We received call at 3.50pm today with a report of a deceased dog on the busy A14 near Bury St Edmunds. The dog had been moved to the side of the road by a passing motorist (the vehicle that hit her clearly hadn't stopped), who then contacted one of the team who drove out there straight away, but due to the severity of her injuries it wasn't possible to properly identify her. All that we can say its that it's fairly certain a lorry had hit her.

Siggi's foster took the body to the local vet, where they managed to locate the chip which sadly confirmed it was Siggi. She's with the vets in Bury St Edmunds and is going to be cremated, with the ashes returned eventually to Flori, her rescuer in Romania.

It's obviously the worst possible outcome, but she 100% would have known nothing and it would have been instant. Sorry to have to tell you this as we really hoped it wasn't going to happen.Last edited: 2019-10-24 19:09:53

UPDATE 21/10 - after 36hrs with no sightings we were hopeful Siggi may have settled somewhere, which she probably had, but people returning to work this morning disturbed her and she was on the run again, unfortunately someone also tried to catch her so we suspect she has now moved on :( Last seen heading south towards Rickinghall.
REMEMBER IF YOU SEE HER PLEASE IGNORE HER AND RING/TEXT 07979 467367 or 07940 269557 or send us a MESSAGE - unless she is IN A SECURE AREA - in which case CLOSE THE GATE!

A lot of work is going on behind the scenes for Siggi, she is running scared and we need her to settle again and start eating from feeding stations so a trap can be set, all sightings are being mapped.
Please do report sightings and if you do see her please just walk away from her and let us know immediately where she has been seen and what time, these sightings can be reported to the contact numbers or messaged to Siggi’s page, thank you for your help so far x

Update 13/10

Siggi is still in the Banham area, pretty close to home.
Food/water stations are set...trail cameras are placed...we want to keep her near to secure her

‼️Remember - she will bolt if approached‼️

It goes against natural instinct we know, but if you see her...IGNORE HER...unless she is in immediate danger from traffic, leave her to 'do her thing' and note time and direction headed and call the poster numbers!

Thank you all for your help and support

UPDATE 12th October....
Siggi is still being seen in the Banham area at present.
If you see her...please call the numbers on the poster.
Siggi is used to humans and has lived with dogs/farm animals all her life...but in her scared state, she is likely to run from 'predators' (humans!)
However...if she gets herself cornered in a secure garden/barn etc...please call the numbers immediately..and remember to shut the door or gate!
