This is so sad. Having been involved in the search for Lucy at the weekend this is really bad news.Unfortunately there were not enough people involved in the search, I don't know if that would have changed the outcome, we will never know sadly. The hard part is knowing that she may have only been a little distance away from us but was too frightened to show herself. Run free beautiful girl you must have been too good for this World.XXX.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A very, very sad update. Despite numerous sightings in a relatively small area, and a number of us spending hours searching, we could not find her. There were definate sightings as recent as Sunday.
Lucy was found dead today on farmland very close to where she went missing.
Run free, lass, sorry we let you down.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another long day looking but Lucy still not home. My quick phone message to Sally Ann wasnt very clear. Lucy was seen at about 9.15am on footpath which goes up from Shurdington village up Shurdington Hill. I went up the allotments public footpath on Farm Lane and joined the other footpath. Still did not see her amongst the trees and bushes. Someone then rang to say they had seen her up there at around 11.30am. The top of Shurdington Hill is pretty much the centre of everywhere that she has been seen but it is a very difficult area as its very hilly, undulating, boggy and dotted with trees and bushes. There were another couple of possible sightings around the village. There was one place where she has been seen more than once in the recent past. I have left food and for 2 days it has not been touched. Very hard to know exactly where to leave anything for her. There is still no pattern.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been another sighting this morning about an hour ago. She was on Farm Lane left of the allotments which is very close to Greenway Lane. Sue is out there now with her hound and is hoping to encourage Lucy towards Lotty and she also has food with her. This hound is very very nervous and she is looking very thin. Please help if you are anywhere near the area. Fingers crossed she is caught very soon. Eileen. Lakeland Trailhound WelfareLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Could her owner not camp overnight somewhere in this area and have a BBQ, this has worked so many times.  At the moment the weather is not that bad.  Good luck we are all willing her home.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes as Yasa says please concentrate in the one area where you have had actual sightings which I think is your safest bet.
Mollychops nice to see you on here give me a call sometime please.

Excuse me for butting in here, but it seems she is stationed somewhere around Greenway lane so this is the place to concentrate on. You need to set up her safe place with her bedding, toys, smelly food and water somewhere on this route. If you can keep her coming back to this feeding station you are almost there. Good luck - you are really so close now. Stay safe Lucy xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been out all day with a few helpers including 3 trailhounds helping. Lucy's owner spotted her in Greenway Lane briefly but after that she disappeared again. So very frustrating. Apparently she is looking very thin now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spent the night in car at fisheries but no show. Walked the surrounding woods and fields for 4 and half hours with my hound off lead and running about sniffing, but no sight. A very difficult area to search if Lucy wants to remain hidden as it is very hilly and covered with gorse, woods, shrubs, ferns. Still meeting Saturday morning at Crickley Hill at 10am. We may drive somewhere else nearby, will decide in morning. Its very muddy up there so a good pair of boots and a change of shoes and socks will be a good idea. Also, binoculars and a roll of cellotape to tape posters along the walk will help. Anyone not up to hill walking, there is a lot to be said for standing in one place looking through binoculars or even going to local village and putting leaflets through doors.

I have taken this from another forum as owner has not got internet access   "For anyone in the area, Lucy has been hanging around the carp fishery in Leckhampton Lane, also seen in Crippetts Lane. Lots of spinneys and wooded areas for her to lie up in. Its not far from Greenway Lane, also very wooded, so she could be commuting between the 2.
We are still planning to be at Crickley Hill Country Park visitor centre at 10am on Saturday (20th) if anyone can make it."

Had an update call from Jills's owner (Jill who's real name is Lucy Jill was her kennel name) has been sighted in several different places but all within the area she first went missing. We are hopeful she will be found by her owner soon.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to Lucy's owner tonight. There was some confusion over the dogs name as she was known as Jill when we sent her to the Dogs Trust for re-homing. The owners have had her for about 6 weeks and she is definately now known as Lucy. Lucy was seen up to Sunday night at a place called Burlyfields Farm which is in between Greenway Lane and Crippets Lane. There are fishing lakes there and Lucy has been seen around there for a few days. The fishermen have bins there and at midnight the bins were checked but by 7am this morning they had been disturbed. It looks like she is coming out at night for food. Also Lucy has previously been walked around this area so she does know it. She was also spotted in the middle of some white deer as there is a deer enclosure close by. Her owners have been out today but not seen her but at least we know she is in the same area. If anyone is in this area please keep an eye open for her. Thanks. Eileen Lakeland Trailhound Welfare Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went up for 3 hours tonight after work. Postered around Crickley Hill Country Park car park and spoke to loads of dog walkers. One strange thing that happened - I drove down to Greenway Lane where Jill went missing. I was looking up towards Crickley Hill through binoculars and saw a man up there walking 2 hounds off lead. They looked very like trailhounds. One was tri coloured and one white and tan or lemon. I drove up there to see who he was, but missed him. Is there anyone in area with contacts with local newspaper of radio? I just feel there is not enough publicity to the fact that Jill is missing. I didnt see any other posters up anywhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Julie If a trap is needed there is one in Yeovil if you are able to pick it up?
Do you also want your mobile on the poster as this is usual?
I  will put posters in the post to you on Monday.

A4 poster and smaller posters done and emailed to Reynard. There have been a few Trail Hounds on DL if you look back at them you may get some tips.  Good luck and fingers crossed she is soon reunited with her owners and in the BLUE.  Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken with Jill's owner has done the usual scenting, feeding etc, if anyone can help with a trap or has knowledge of helping with a runaway (forgot to mention that previous owner should also leave their particular scent) and needs help with postering please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just wanted to add that Jill's owner lives 4 or 5 miles away. Jill actually went missing from her doggy day care so she is not in an area that she knows. If anyone, especially with experience in helping to find lost dogs, can go into the area with posters etc, please help. If Jill's owner has pc problems, then posters are not going up. I cant get over at least until Monday evening.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jill has not been sighted now for two days and the owners have been out looking in the area. The owners computer is not working and she cant download any posters. Can anyone help at all by downloading and putting up posters and looking around this area. Jill will be now quite nervous and we need to know if she has moved on or still in this area. Thanks, Eileen, Lakeland Trailhound Welfare.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went up yesterday looking for a couple of hours but no sight. For anyone going up to look, if you google GL51 4UG, that is the postcode for the Greenway Hotel to get you into the right area. Once you drive up Greenway Lane it very quickly peters out from being a driveable lane and becomes a rutted track. On the left as you start to walk up track, there is a load of rubbish dumped and Jill has been seen hanging around there. Her owner has been leaving food there. Right up the track, Jill was spotted heading towards the Crickley Hill Country Park area. Most worrying, down at the beginning of Greenway Lane, she has been seen on more than one occasion, crossing the very busy A46 and going down the Badgeworth Lane. Hopefully, as she is getting food, she will stay in the area but needs to be found quickly as the road she is crossing is very busy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please inform the Dog Warden ASAP if not done already, then download and print off posters of Jill by clicking on Poster 1 above. Distribute posters everywhere, especially where there have been sightings of her.As she is chipped you have the best chance of getting her back. Good luck.
