Seems a bit daft when there are so many other ways to prove they’re the owner, I would suggest a picture of a found dog is essential to find the owner rather than be avoided.

Hello, this dog has thankfully been reunited with his owners now but thanks for your comments :)
We don't usually like to add pictures for found animals because we want the owner to be able to confirm what their pet looks like/ show us a picture to help prove ownership.

This is probably a red herring, but I lived in Bounds Green New Southgate N11 until 2005 and there was a Leonberger living there. I saw him or her being walked by the railway lines by his/her owner.
