Hi all, Thanks to pam who called me to make me aware of a bedlington terrier in springfield kennels, unfortunately it does not appear to be charlie, i have had contact with springfield who have advised me that the dog is actually a bitch, i am still going to see it to make sure for myself. Thanks   VickyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Vicky, I wouldn't give up on Charlie, I would Blitz the area with posters as all the original ones have been ruined by the rain, I would make sure all the local dog groomers know about him as he will need a hair cut by now. It only takes one person to see a poster like the lady who phoned, I know it was not Charlie but it easily could have been. I support a local dog rescue and am friends with one of the ladies, they rescue dogs from the pound when there 7 days are up and are always looking for homes and foster homes for all sorts of dogs, if you would like to talk to her you have my number give me a ring they get some lovely dogs to re home and always try to fit the dog with the new family.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, as you all know the dog in question was not charlie, i made the mistake of building up my hopes again only to be let down again, thanks to all who helped posted and commented on this site i really do appreciate it, my home is so quiet without charlie, i really do not see any hope in getting him home now but that does not mean i am not still looking. Thanks again to everyone and good luck to all people in the same position as me. I did today ring a rescue centre to look at re homing a stray dog only to be told that due to the fact i had lost one already that i would not be considered to re home another one this i thought added insult to injury !!!!!!! Hi Vicky, your welcome. Charlie is out there it just needs the right person to see or about him. Maybe your partner could put a notice in the bus shelter just a bit further on from where we saw the dog (if thats allowed i dont know). Also maybe by the bus station. One under the underpass might be good too as it goes across to Sainsburys, Pets at home, Matalan & other shops so then Wednesday loads of people should see it with it being market day. Everything is crossed here that it does turn out to be Charlie. Bye PA.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Vicky, don't give up hope of getting Charlie back, lots of dogs are found weeks after they went missing, it only takes 1 person to see a poster and know where he is, this sighting in Dewsbury sounds quite positive, you need to get lots of posters up, the girls who were stroking him could have taken him home, fingers crossed it is him, if you get any more sightings I am free most afternoons to check them out. I was driving so couldnt stop but drove round again but didnt see it. Im disabled so couldnt park away & walk back. Fingers crossed.  Bye PALast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jan, The dog is on the UK National Pets Register Website. www.nationalpetregister.org  Its on the first page of the dogs found list & is nu 1515. There isnt a pic sadly though. It would be lovely if it was Charlie but even if his owner is found that would be brilliant. It does give a contact nu & email add. Thanks PA.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think that is a good idea Tracey, if Charlie is still in the area we just need somebody to see a poster and that will cover a wider area, some of the posters that I put up on Oxford road and Church lane have been taken down and I keep replacing the ones at Oakwell, he is out there somewhere, fingers crossed Vicky you get a phone call soon.  Liz Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi vicky sorry to hear u will be stuck in with leg. it must be frustrating. i drive around the area every day when i walk my dogs and also have a few other people who i walk with or speak to at oakwell on the lookout. i also keep an eye out when i walk the circuit thru the woods etc at Oakwell itself. Just a thought but could u perhaps ask the local schools if they wud be willing to hand out a leaflet to all the kids. u could print off some small ones and i'm sure the kids come from all the surrounding areas so it would hit alot of families. i know Rachel who lost Freddie WF4 did this at a school in kirkburton and they were very happy to help though not sure if all schools would do it. anyway its just an idea, not sure what u think about that one. anyway of course i and my friends will continue to keep our eyes out for young charlie. stay safe and well charlie and i wish u a speedy recovery Vicky. If Charlie has gone up the fields at the back of the Scotland, he could be in somebodys house in Gomersal or Birkenshaw. I have put some posters up on Oxford Road also on the entrance to the Barley fields and in the Newsagents. I will get a few more up today towards Birkenshaw and Muffet Lane.  LizLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone Thanks so much for everyone's help and support, i have been unable to log on to site until today, i am unable to walk at the moment i have had operation on my leg and will be laid up for the next 12 weeks therefore if i can do anything to help this site please get in touch as i have nothing else to do. Other than put an ad on tv i have done everything to find charlie, with the help of Jarvis there is posters up everywhere, he has been in the local paper, he is on free ads and also in all local shops and pet shops, the dog house grooming parlour, there is 20 people withadverts in there cars but no luck, charlie seems to have vanished into thin air i am in the hope that someone may have taken him in but also feel quite upset if thats the case that someone would do that as he is a dog who has been looked after and anyone who sees him would know that he is not a stray. Please Please Please if anyone knows where he is get in touch my direct mobile number is 07870256490 or email on vicky.purslow@rentokil.com and thanks again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Charlie seems to have vanished into thin air after 3 or 4 sightings last Thursday near the Scotland Pub there have been no others, I think that he may be in somebody's house and they may not have seen a poster, I renewed a few at Oakwell today that had come down I put a few more up on Bradford road and Church Lane, I have also given the land lady at the Black Bull by the church one to display in the bar area. I have walked the fields at the back of the Scotland every day, somebody must know where he his as he is friendly I would have expected him to have been picked up by now.  LizLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sorry to hear about Vicky breaking her leg. I walked at Oakwell again today and updated my dog walking friends. I then had to go to Tesco so drove along some of the side streets on the way and then along as far as the mill village and back along Bradford Rd. Checked out the fields where Charlie had been previously sighted on my way home but sadly nothing. Stay safe and well TraceyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Vicky, Steve and friends are going searching for him tonight if there is any body free in the area to help in the serach they would appreciate it very much. Charlie's owner Vicky is having trouble postering on the site so has asked me if I could keep you up to date on Charlie, he is a soft friendly dog who went missing from the garden between 10pm & 10 20pm on the 15th September, the owners searched for him all night but so far have had no sightings of him, they have posted the area and he will be in the Batley News today and the free adds paper. It sounds to me like somebody will have picked him up and is maybe looking after him not realising he is missing, we do not see many Bedlington Terriers in this area so if he is still local he should be easy to spot. Hopefully Vicky will be able to post on the site soon, in the mean time could any helpers in the area keep an eye out for Charlie and pass the word around that he is still missing.  Liz  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi I spoke with the owner and recommended doglost a few days ago. Glad she managed to post about her lovely dog. I walk at Oakwell twice a day and have mentioned Charlie to all my dog walking friends, some who had already seen the posters young Megan the owners daughter had put up over the weekend. Noticed Liz's posters this evening when i went to walk my dogs. They were well placed for all to see. There have been quite alot of people at oakwell during the weekend so the more who see the poster's the better. I will try postering around the surrounding area in the next day or two. It might be an idea to ask the rangers at Oakwell to put posters  in the glass cabinets near the barn and down near the playarea. That way they will stay dry. Stay safe and well Charlie and come home soon. Regards TraceyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
