I meant to say that this gorgeous boy certainly needs an ID tag on his collar as a welcome home present although, I suspect, even if he had been wearing one when he went missing, the kennels wouldn't have bothered to read it!

What a worry - poor Merlin and poor Merlin's owners. They must have been besides themselves. Welcome home Merlin - thank goodness you were 'found' in time. I bet you will be catching up on your beauty sleep tonight in your nice cosy bed after tucking in to your favourite meal!

So relieved to see Merlin safely home again.  Presumably owners called the kennels esp as Jotty put their no. on here.  We've had issues with these kennels before and I always urge people to go and look for themselves and to ring every day - in spite of the fact that they will often be told that the kennels will call them if their dog comes in.  They won't!  Welcome home Merlin you dear old boy. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Merlin, but it is a worry once again that a dog with a microchip and owners phoning the council on more than one occasion  can seemingly slip through the net. Looks like another set of owners with questions that must be answered.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This sort of situation is happening so often, and still it never ceases to amaze me - I can only assume that dogs are low in the pecking order of things to some people.   Poor Merlin has been in those kennels for nearly a week, and yet phone calls are being made which never match him up with his owners.   Quite clearly from what we have been seeing on here recently, phone calls are not enough, we can't rely on whoever we speak to on the end of one, and the risk we take is that either our precious pet is rehomed or worse before we finally get the answers.   NOT GOOD ENOUGH.   Sorry to shout, but I feel very strongly about this, I expect you can tell LOL !   And, he is chipped!   What more can we do?   Don't they have a scanner at these kennels?   ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! So glad that Merlin has finally been found, welcome home lovely boy, stay safe now! xx   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Despite Merlin's owners, for several days, trying to get in contact with the finder of the dog on Colchester's website that matched the description of Merlin, they have only today just located him at West End Kennels - he has been there since Friday, the day after he went missing! They were not told, despite numerous calls to the council, that this is where Merlin was. Thank god they got to the bottom of it today as this would have been his 7th day there. Am speaking to the owners later so will get full story then. Welcome home Merlin (eventually).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sure Jotty has given the nos. to call.  I believe Colchester Council is 01206 282222, Blackbrook Kennels 01206 322284 and Oven Green Kennels 01787 375763. There will be lots more. The RSPCA have alerted all their Kennels, and Station Fm Kennels at Raydon will keep an eye open. Might be worth calling Pampered Pets at Hacheston (Suffolk Coastal rehoming kennels) 01728 747760 too. I hope his chip will bring him home very quickly.  Keep safe Merlin. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Merlin is still not home. His owners are having trouble tracking down the person who found the dog matching Merlin's descriptions as posted on the council's website. Of course is continuing to try and find out and I will speak to Nigel later to offer some advice.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to see Merlin is missing. Fingers crossed the found one reported on Colchester's website is a match and he'll be back home with you on Monday! Description and area certainly fits. You may well have already tried this but have you contacted Westend Farm Kennels on 01449 737641 who take Colchester's strays incase he has gone there rather than staying with finder?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to Yasa, I've uploaded the photo again as it did not view on the poster for some reason.  Owner does not feel he would have gone that far, the gate was left open by workmen and he went missing approx 2.00 p.m. Friday afternoon.  Sending an A4 poster, smaller ones and information to Merlin's owner.  Fingers crossed the found dog is him and once the posters start getting circulated Nidge will get a call.  Good luck.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nidge, sorry to see Merlin is missing, thanks for registering and putting his details on DL, we will do all we can to help you in your search for him.  Great that you have supplied photos of him so quickly, brilliant that he is CHIPPED, ensure you notify the CHIP Co.   You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible.  You can print posters by selecting Dog Poster 1  just above Dog Information (you must be logged in).  Contact vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Do update us on the circumstances on how he went missing and who has been contacted ie DW’s etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment just above other comments,  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
