Hi - I volunteer with Doris Banham Dog Rescue. There is a dog on one of the lists we have been sent from the pound that looks very much like your Cassey. This dog is scheduled to be put to sleep on Monday. We are hoping to get her out - so don't panic, but please contact me to establish whether this is your dog or not!
My number is 01590 624731
or email me at lostdog@ib2bsystems.com
Please contact me soon as time is short to save this dog.
These are the two pics we have of this dog:

Spoke to Shaz first thing this morning and re-emailed the photo of the found dog, not long spoken to Shaz and the family have looked at the photo and agreed it is not Cassie.  A message has been left by Shaz to the caller earlier today.  The search is still on for Cassie.  Thanks to everyone who is looking for her, family would also like to pass on their thanks.  Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am one of the phone contacts for Rochdale Dog Rescue and nobody has phoned me apart from Cassie's owner the other day.  I made enquiries about Merry and was told she is a different dog.  Cassie's owner didn't leave a contact number for me to phone her back.  At the moment Merry isn't a Rochdale dog, she is under the care of the Dog Warden and in the Pound.  On her pts date, a volunteer from RDR will pick Merry up from the pound and take her to safety.  In the 3.5 years that RDR has been going, no dog has been pts unless the Dog Warden refused to hand the dog over because of aggression or it was too ill.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks bobbyb, have just spoken to Shaz who is going to check her emails. Shaz will update us on the situation with the dog Merry in the rescue kennels, they are going to view her.  Cassey actually went missing approx 20.09.08 and was due to come into season, have updated the date she went missing on her details.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am wishing you the very best of luck that this is your girl and you get it all sorted by the 13th.  These poor dogs that are going to be pts through no fault of their own, these staffies have such a raw deal just because of a minority of owners getting them a bad name.  GOOD LUCK Kind Regards JulieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have a look on the Rochdale Dog Website website at Merry - she is a similar colouring and markings to Cassey; its hard to see if the white markings are in the same place, but worth checking out.

Cassey is a very small Staffie and so may appear to be younger than she is. Owner has been told that somebody in a black car picked her up.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

POSTED ON BEHALF OF SABLE WHO WAS HAVING PROBLEMS POSTING. Hi Shaz, I am Sable from Doglost and just wanted to help in the search for Cassey by offering some advice.Firstly do you have a phone number to add to Cassey?s poster? A lot of people do not have access to internet and if they see or find her will be unable to contact you as you have only added an email addy .Even if you can use someone else?s number it would help. Please send your number to me by reply or add it to Cassey?s Doglost page yourself. Now, can you email a photo of Cassey to admin@doglost.co.uk or call Doglost office to add it by mobile phone on 08448003220 or 07734759154? If you could add the circumstances that Cassey went missing in, on her page too, that would be helpful also. Thereafter follow the advice below.
Firstly inform the Dog warden (if this has not already been done), who you will be able to contact at your council offices. They will tell you where stray dogs are taken to. Contact the rescue kennels and give them a poster of Cassey. Posters can be downloaded and then printed off if you click on POSTER 1 on her page. Posters (In plastic folders) need to be put up in the area where she went missing, or where there have been sightings, if any - on lamp posts, entrances to parks and strategic places in the area where she went missing, like at the start and finish of tracks and paths in parks, dog bins, at vets, pet shops, garages, pubs, carry-out food shops, post offices, local shops who often allow postcards in the window, supermarkets who have notice boards, community centres, youth clubs, schools etc. You can ask the postman, milkman, taxi drivers, street cleaners, bin men (even put poster on bins), to take some flyers and hand them out on their rounds. You can ask school bus drivers and kids on the bus, or if you have kids on the bus, get them to hand out flyers at school. Deliver flyers to houses, businesses & pop through letterboxes. Hand out flyers to people in the street, especially dog walkers. Put posters or flyers in car windows. Local rescue centres and kennels, also police offices need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Cassey, because your dog or it's breed may not be recognised by other people. Also as she is not chipped and may not have ID on her, she can lawfully be re-homed after 7 days by the rescue kennels, so you must call the dog warden and kennels EVERY day. Get some media coverage if you can, by asking the local radio station to broadcast Cassey as missing and put an ad in the local newspaper with a picture of her. It is important to get posters out there and seen by as many people as possible.Good luck. Hope she is found very soon. If you need any further help, please call me or the head office.
