- Presumne all outbuildings including empty houses, and cellars were checked THOROUGHLY at the time he went missing? Cats can survive without food for weeks. They will lick on relevant items to keep themselves hydrated. And just because you can`t see a cat, doesn`t mean they aren`t around. A cat posted as missing for THREE MONTHS was found only ten minutes from his home. A woman had been feeding him fresh chicken every day, so you never know.
