Hi janiejewel1649,

Yes I believe tracker dogs have been out a couple of times looking for Ben as well as a drone to no avail :-( The tracker dogs lead them down towards Pendle Water. Last edited: 2020-02-22 09:59:18 by Julia

Has a Tracker dog been used to help find Ben? Or is there a dog that Ben knows who could sniff him out via his UNWASHED blanket belonging to Ben. The dog could then sniff the blanket. And search for Ben. Paws xd.
Julia
Put up 20 posters in the area (details below) yesterday as well as helping with the search.

Holme End
Wood End Rd
Foot bridge into Heald woods
Various entrances and exits to Heald woods
Across Barden Lane Fields to Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Canal Bridge at back of Reedley Marina
Canal entrance on Robinson Lane
Reedley Hallows Greenway back to Holme End

Perhaps some posters should go up further down stream just in case :-(

Update from Nick (Drone SAR group) xx

Update on yesterday - the postcode supplied was correct, there is a large wooded area behind the home, where Ben was being walked. The owner looked away for one moment and Ben had disappeared from view.

Ben is very slow at walking, deaf and almost blind, cannot walk far at all.

I attended today and along with the Doglost coordinator Jay Chambers, did an extensive foot search including using a thermal camera to check deep brambles. There is a ditch to one side and whilst steep, doesn’t contain a lot of water, this was checked thoroughly. At the far end of the woodland is a river, again has a steep bank, is flowing and would estimate up to 4 feet deep currently.

A neighbour searched as much of this river as possible. The owners have been out looking also but absolutely no clues as to where this lad has gone

Neighbours gardens have been checked close to home as well. Good neighbourhood, most people we spoke to knew the dog and hopefully, this will help with sightings.

Next steps will be plastering the area with posters, alerting taxi companies, bus company, postmen etc. Doglost are also updating further search volunteers in the area and will be assisting with postering.

Based on the above, we are desperate for posters to go up in the area and for anyone who can kindly knock on some doors.

Massive thank you to Nick and Jay who gave up their time yesterday to search for this lovely boy xx

Does anyone have any local radio contacts for Radio Lancashire? I’d hope if they knew how old Ben was and his difficulties that they would find time in their schedule to mention it to reach as wide an audience in the area as possible, particularly given the inclement weather? Praying he’s safe somewhere๐Ÿ™Last edited: 2020-02-15 11:21:43 by Vin

So no luck with the thermal camera? Did a drone go up? Heartbreaking to think he’s out there in this weather in such frail health๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Sorry to see that BEN 14 YEARS OLD BLIND AND DEAF is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (154138)

  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
