"HE'S HOME!!!

So this afternoon we took our beautiful beagle Bailey home!! There are no words to describe the joy we feel to finally have him back!!!

The vets have told us his recovery is going remarkably well and his swelling and bruising continues to improve. He is moving his paw more and more and there were even some tail wags!

Bailey still has a long road ahead of him, he has to attend the vet every second day to have his wounds dressed and monitored for the next while, he will have a check up in a week with regards the bone which was operated on. Bailey unfortunately won't be able to go for walks or play with dogs for the next 2 months so he is open to some visitors! :)

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who helped get Bailey home and helped us over the last 6 days. Words just cannot express the thanks to every single person: from those who showed up to look for Bailey with treats and dogs, for calling out his name, for bringing other beagles, to those who supported us; the coffees the food and change of clothes. To those who helped with the drone, the bloodhound who tried so hard to find Bailey, to those strangers who hugged me when I cried. To pups and pals who never left my side bringing some of his friends from doggy daycare to help look. To my kind friends and those who did posters, my colleagues who brought me lunch. To the people who reported sightings of Bailey which were key in trying to locate him. To all those who prayed, lit candles and sent reiki and healing To Bailey. To our families near and far who committed to finding Bailey with every fibre of their being.

I will never be able to truly express my gratitude for the compassion and kindness of the drivers and those who stopped to help Bailey at that critical time. To Ian and Kerrie for their quick thinking, and fast actions that saved Bailey's life. For Kerrie taking him to Lamond vets. And to all those in Lamond vets who helped stabilise Bailey. To Jane who drove us with the stretcher to the Dick hospital in Edinburgh. To the life saving vets and surgeons who worked tirelessly to save Bailey's leg and help him to breath, and gave me back my boy.

There will never be enough words to thank each and every one of you who donated towards the cost of Bailey's care. The sheer kindness and generosity has been the most humbling experience. We have yet to finalise the vet bills from both vets and Bailey will continue to have aftercare appointments, so I can guarantee it will all be put towards the continuing care of Bailey.

We will continue to update you all on Bailey's progress as he starts the uphill battle to normality. But for now....its time to sleep!!"

Via Edinburgh and Lothian lost dogs:

"Update 9pm from Jenny:
Bailey is currently in the ICU at Edinburgh Trauma. They have told us the next 24 hrs are critical. He’s stable at the moment but Emma has been told that this could change at any moment. So far we know he has a leak in one of his lungs and his front paw is mangled. If any internal bleeding / injuries they will show in the next few hrs so this is really a critical time . He will need orthopaedic surgery , worse case an amputation but that’s if he makes it through the next 24hrs . Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers . He’s been through so much and has a tough battles ahead of him but is fighting for his life .

Please update any posts that we may miss out on as it’s so hard to find everything we posted and commented on . So thankful for all the well wishes for Bailey and Emma. The support is really overwhelming! Will try keep everyone updated in the morning once we know more xx"

Update from Laura via Lost pets Edinburgh:
"Hi everyone. We have some news. Unfortunately Bailey has just been involved in a hit and run on a main road. Some kind lady then came upon him and brought him to the vets. We don't know what will happen as he has alot of severe injuries. Will update you all late.
Thank you for all your help and support. And please start praying he will make it."

Support also being offered by local groups and Drone SAR for Lost Dogs UK, who have assigned a drone pilot who is en route with thermal imaging equipment.
