3 years since Patsy sadly went missing

Missing 2 years - update on Facebook

It was 2 years ago today that Patsy escaped from home and didn't come back. Apart from a few sightings in Charfield (Huntingford) 3 weeks later and a possible sighting in the same area last year we have had no news of her, good or bad. Despite putting out cameras for the first few months and lots of posters the trail has gone very cold. She would now be 4 and a half and has been missing almost as long as she was with us. I'm sure some people must think it's time to move on and I must admit that it's very hard to imagine we will ever see her again but because we've had no bad news about her there is that tiny glimmer of hope that just refuses to die. Maybe she is managing to survive in the wild, it wouldn't be impossible. Or maybe she has been picked up by someone and has a new home. If anyone knows of someone that got an adult female border terrier in the last couple of years that might possibly be her then please please contact us. If anyone has any relevant info please let us know and anyone local to Charfield please keep an eye out for any signs of an unaccompanied dog that might be her. It's the not knowing that is so hard. I know lots of people have shared Patsy's page and we are so grateful. All we can do now is to ask that you still keep her in mind and share again just in case. Thank you.

I may have seen Patsy near Rio Pools in Charfield a while ago . . . was walking on road . . seemed chipper . . . I cannot remember exact date . . . it was probably a Sunday afternoon maybe April 5 or 12 . . . I thought it unusual to see dog without owner . . . . she seemed in good health & moved briskly . . . walked past my car & seemed friendly enough . . . sorry can't be more helpful . . . haven't seen any signs at our barn or on our CCTV . . . will keep on the look out for her . . . good luck

Hmm, well it's closer to you than to us, but yes there are. I am getting to know the area quite well as I go twice a day to look and to check the cameras we have now put up (one very kindly loaned by dog lost south west).
I would have thought animal welfare was a good enough reason to be out - providing one sticks to the social distancing rules, but unfortunately it seems we are very much on our own at the moment. I am planning to leaflet-drop the local farms this weekend, which I have been reluctant to do, but I don't see that we have much other choice as she has now been gone nearly 6 weeks and we are desperate to get her back before she gets killed or injured.

We have now had another sighting of Patsy within a couple of hundred metres of the previous one, in Charfield between Rio Pools and Huntingford Kennels on New Street (forkful.unpainted.weaned). This was very near to a poster of her, but she ran off when they tried to catch her.
We have alerted people in the area (Huntingford Kennels, local farmer etc) and will concentrate our walks in that area.

Further to previous post we looked at where possibly Patsy was sighted but didn't find anything and we have walked up and down alongside the railway line between Charfield and Wickwar several times, but have seen no sign of her there either.
We have also walked around the Tortworth Copse area in Charfield, close to the railway line where she was seen, and which looks like a good spot for a Border Terrier to hide.
By now she has probably gone into a feral state and might well not come out even if she heard us calling, so it's hard to know if we are looking in the right area or not. She would probably have kept clear of people with dogs that she didn't know anyway, so she is likely to be quite difficult to catch.
At the moment there is no practical help in finding lost dogs due to the Coronavirus restrictions, but we are hoping that someone will spot her and give us a call. If you are out doing your 'daily exercise' in the Charfield or Wickwar areas (or anywhere in between), please keep an eye out for her!

*UPDATE* a border terrier has been spotted running up and down alongside the railway line at Charfield by the bridge. This was at 12.00 today and the people who saw it when shown a photo of Patsy were very positive it was her. She was last seen heading South on the West side of the tracks at Charfield. I have reported it to National Rail who have no sightings but have logged it and will contact us if they do. Please could everyone share again and anyone local keep an eye out for her. Patsy is still missing despite all our efforts to find her. We have not had any sightings so far so are now wondering if she could have been picked up by someone who has not reported it. Please continue to keep an eye out for a dog matching her description. Thank you.

Can volunteers please ensure Rangeworthy and villages along the main road as well as Cowship Lane back to Wickwar are posted. Has network rail been advised as there’s a track running through the fields between Wickwar and Rangeworthy x

• If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
