According to Buffy's post on Sheffield Forum:
"Just had a call from Animal Control, Jack has been found!!!!!!!!!!!

A man in Parson Cross has him. It seems Jack wandered into his place of work yesterday and just sat down and wouldn't budge! Now, I know we told Jack to go get a job, maybe this is a tactic that the people of this country should try! The man took him home, took him to a vet where he was scanned for a microchip and bingo, up popped the chip number. Animal control were then informed. My lost dog report was tallied up and I was called. Apparently he seems healthy and is eating normally.

We'll be picking him up this evening after work! I'll let you all know if he's OK later."Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been what sounds like a positive sighting of Jack in Crookes Valley Park (nr University of Sheffield) yesterday afternoon!
I just phoned a neighbour who said he'd seen a dog, black/brown (not all one colour) with white on it's chest and slightly smaller than a labrador across the park but when he asked someone if it was her dog she said it wasn't.
When I mentioned the possibility of a doberman cross he said the markings would definitely tally up.
I'm going to ask neighbours if they've seen him as their gardens back onto the park and he may have been around looking for food. Also worth speaking to the Dam House Restaurant to see if they've seen him around their bins.
I'm seeing my vet in Broomhill later so will mention it to her as well.
But it sounds like he's still around this area. I've been to Weston Park (next to Crookes Valley) this morning and saw nothing but will try to get out later for a look. Unfortunately, I'm unable to walk far today but will do what I can.

I have just spoken to Jacks owner and am bumping him back to the top of the page because of the SIGHTING of him in Infirmary Road near Tesco's on Saturday 25th October. This was a reliable sighting as the man who saw him stroked him and noticed the camouflage collar. As Jack is such a friendly boy he may well have been taken in by someone locally. Owners have been checking with the local pound and also visiting some local rescues. Hoping for some news of this handsome boy very soon Pam xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Hello Janey, is the dog you refer to ID No. E314-08?  This is a doberman cross but has not got any white on the bottom of its chest.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
hello janey

I'm around Crookesmoor (up from Infirmary Road) and have not seen Jack in this area. I will keep my eyes peeled when out and about and will ask neighbours and friends in the area if they've seen him. But at this moment in time he hasn't been seen passing through Crookesmoor (which would indicate Broomhill/Crookes/Walkley) but he could have gone another way.
Will try to keep updated.

There has been a positive sighting of Jack on Infirmary Rd, nr Tesco on Saturday. So, he made it all the way through Hillsborough
Any chance of an update email being circulated? He seems to be covering one heck of a lot of ground, so could have made it as far as the opposite side of the city by now

Have spoken to owner, they have notified the Chip Co, but not the DW yet, have sent another photo, full body shot of Jack will upload shortly.  Even though Jack is CHIPPED this cannot be relied on.  Have sent them some information and list of Rescues to try, also an A4 poster and smaller posters.  If anyone is able to help with the postering please let us know and posters can be emailed to you.  Once the posters start getting circulated and after the weekend fingers crossed Jack will be back home.  Good luck.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks strix for the update. Have received following email from Jack's owners with pics attached, uploaded two: Still no sign of him. We think that either someone has taken him in and will go to the rspca in the morning or they are keeping hold of him. We just hope he is in good health and happy.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Buffy, sorry to see Jack is missing, thanks for putting his details on DL, could you please send a photo/s a.s.a.p. to admin@doglost.co.uk any problems with a photo let us know.  We will do all we can to help you in your search.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible.  Posters can be printed, once a photo has been added by selecting Dog Poster 1  just above Dog Information (you must be registered and logged in).  Contact vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Do update us on who has been contacted ie DW’s etc and if you have started postering.  Comments can be posted by selecting  Add a comment just above other comments.   Great that he is CHIPPED, ensure the chip company has been informed and his details are up to date.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
