So pleased it all turned out well Wendy. Thank you to Steve for sending the lovely photos, and glad you will stay on call as a helper, but hope no more go missing in your area. I do hope Paddy will be more to his old self in a few days. He is probably so very relieved to be back home with you, and he must be very foot sore. I can see he is being very well looked after so I dont think you need worry Wendy. Love to you all Hazel x

I am steves sister who owns paddy i miss paddy very much as he has been a challange over the years i do hope he comes back to live in dorset one day but no falt of him my brother very kindley offered to look after him for me for a while .And what a lovley home he has gone to loving and caring god bless,Big hugs and kisses to paddy  Wendy

 Perhaps he was heading back to Dorset?   LOL !   Nice to be able to praise the RSPCA, they rightly get a lot of stick from some of us, this time they did the business, so thanks to them on this occasion.   Stay safe now Paddy xx

I just dont know how he got there on his own Steve. I mean - if he was frightened by a gun shot, cant see him heading for a city !! let alone 40 miles from your own town. But we will never know. Thank you so much to the RSPCA for tracking him and makeing him safe. And thank God for the micro chip. Think we should explain that Paddy is your sisters dog, and you were looking after him whilst she was away, which was why the chip company had her number. What is the condition of him Steve? Does he look as if he's done 40 miles on foot? Are his pads sore? Anyway - so pleased you can all rest well tonight. Do please email me a lovely re-united pic for the site, unless you can upload one yourself. Paddy is Home. Fast asleep on the bed. He was found in Leicester City, 40 miles from Peterborough City. The RSPCA had a report of a stray Monday. They tracked him for 6 miles before they caught him. Scanned him for his chip Tuesday phoned my sister in Dorset she phoned me, could not get there in time before they closed. So picked him up first thing Wednesday(Hope this makes sence). Wish Paddy could talk so he could tell his tale. Big thankyou to Hazel at DOGLOST and DOGLOST for all your help and advise, keep up the work. Weldone to the RSPCA for finding Paddy. Steve & Penny

Whooooo Hoooo !  I was just driving home from work, and had a call from a very excited Steve, to say that they had had a call from a rescue centre in Leicester !!!!, and they have got Paddy there. They picked up his microchip. Family are over the moon. Just goes to show that you cannot extend the search too far, and I am really surprised Paddy has allowed himself to be caught, let alone end up in Leicester. I hope we get a story. I would love to know how he has got out there. I really expected that he would be still in the undergrowth. Will not change to blue until Steve has him tomorrow. The call came too late for him to get there this afternoon, but they open at 11.00am tomorrow and Steve will be there. Cant wait to see a reunited pic. made my day.

Any luck Steve ? perhaps you could give us an update on what you have done today, and any news. With the Saluki type dogs, they can be extra nervous as I'm sure you know. It may take some time before he is confident enough to pop his head out. When walking the area, do call, and speak quietly. Keep stopping and maybe sitting still for a while humming or speaking his name. Has he got a favourite squeeky toy, or anything you could rattle gently, or maybe whistle? Sometimes dogs that are really scared need to just know you are near there for a while before they venture out. Keep scenting the trail back as I advised and leaving food on route to home, at regular times. If you can get sightings, or a feeling he is around we maybe could get a trap in order to catch him, but it would have to be manned. Good Luck.

Paddy has gone missing on a walk not too far from home when he became frightened by a gun shot. It is a woody area, with shelter, water to drink, and will be rabbits. Have given advice re informing all authorities, extensive postering, flyering, and scenting. I think he is holed up still afraid to come out, but It hopefully should be possible to lead Paddy home with a scent trail, or keep him in one area by setting up a safe place. Stay safe Paddy until we get you home x

Take posters to wood green animal shelter and Lodge kennels on the A1 near baldock and ring up on a regular basis. How and where did Paddy go missing? best wishes for safe return

Thanks Ashmark.   Steve -Really sorry that Paddy is missing. Thank you for registering on Doglost and uploading the photo. I will contact you later to offer help.   Cannot stress enough that you need to poster widely immediately.  Both around the area of loss and further away.  Places where loads of people go. Pubs, pub car parks, clubs off licences need postering straight away.   If Paddy has run off, there is a real good chance that he is still around the area he went from. Most dogs do come back to the place they last saw their owners. If he ran off from a walk, find a safe place around that area and leave some of his bedding and clothing with your scent on, plus some smelly food such as tripe or pilchards. This will keep him in the area. Please try to return there yourself at break of day and early evening times when he will be wanting food and out and about. Hand out posters to dog walkers in that area.   If he has run from home, leave a way into the garden for him, with his bedding and food by the door. Good luck and hope he is home soon.

Sorry to see Paddy has gone missing but good news that he is microchipped. It is vital that you get posters put up all around the area he went missing from. You can view his poster by clicking on to Dog Poster 1 at the top left of this page, you must be logged on. Send copies to all vets and rescue centres and make sure you inform the dog warden. Other places to poster are supermarkets, pet shops, garages, taxi ranks, local sorting office, schools, dog training clubs, busstops and entrances to parks and public footpaths. If possible visit rescue centres daily as dogs are not always matched up to their posters and please don't rely on the microchip as not all vets and rescue centres routinely scan dogs that are brought to in.
