Cheeko is well and has been re-united with it's owner. Thank you to 'Dog Lost' for your assistance and to the residents of West Lancs (Burscough,Ormskirk and Banks) for their help in both searching for and finding her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible good news. She may have been seized and at a kennels.. Owner contacted by dog warden and we are awaiting confirmation of her identity.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She is back!! Picked up by the CCTV hunting food in the Ormskirk town centre around 4am on the fifth of Jan. She had been seen by CCTV around the New Year too. She then went through Coronation Park and I think she has now found a quieter, and warmer, place to sleep in the day whilst coming out at night for food. Better that she is not disturbed and we will have to hope that she gives herself up (doubtful) or gets trapped in a garden. Still no contact by the owner!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have not had any definite sightings of cheeko in four weeks +.  Owner has not been in contact since five weeks ago.  (Ormskirk is West Lancs, not Liverpool.) Dog warden can be contacted on 01695 585254. Council closed for Xmas period but out of hours is supplied by Leigh Dogs and Cats Home tele 01942 671215. I have never met the Park ranger, Probably on the xmas sherry a little early.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have given Cheeko's details to the Ormskirk Advertiser so hopefully she will be in this week's paperLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is the tel number for the  owner or the Dog Warden? Does the owner want Cheeko back? I am getting different messages from everyone that I speak to. I spoke with the park ranger today and he had not seen Cheeko for several weeks in the coronation park area. He told me that the Dog Warden had stopper looking for her....is that the case? I have not seen her for over a week. I will contact the local paper tomorrow to see if we can get her in this week's paper.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks JMO as you are in the area it would be great if you could contact any local papers that may put an appeal out for her.  Fingers crossed she has been picked up and is being looked after.  I was in Halewood RSPCA on Thursday (11th Dec) and there was no Akita's in there.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not seen Cheeko during the last week. My Mum regularly walks through the park and everyone she talks too haven't seen her either during the last week. Has anyone put an article in the Ormskirk Advertiser? They have put missing dogs in it in the past and it may prompt someone to inform the Dog Warden of another sighting. If not one has I will contact the Advertiser on Monday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have not seen this dog for the last two weeks. About the same time I last heard from it's owner! The CCTV has not picked it up either. I note that J Mo has information relating to 2nd Dec. Perhaps J Mo could contact the Council direct also to keep me updated at the time. Thanks. I will remove the cage this weekend unless we get anymore sightings in the area. My only catch so far has been a rather annoyed cat. the weather and possible human disturbance has probably forced her to find another resting place. Fingers crossed everyone that we get lucky.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cheko has been seen again today in the second field next to the graveyard. She did approach someone who had a dog. I will try over the weekend.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from W.Lancs dog warden:   Please find attached a photograph of this dog. Your colour description will need updating. The dog was last seen by myself in Coronation Park, Ormskirk. It has been there for 3 weeks. It has no home to go back to and the owner only had it one day and therefore does not really know the dog. It is now called Cheeko but has only had the name recently and would not respond to it. It runs off when approached. I have set a cage trap but so far no success. I believe the dog had been a long time stray in the Bolton area prior to being caught by a local resident and taking to Leigh kennels from where it was purchased. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This Akita has been regularly seen in Coronation Park in Ormskirk. She was spotted today and I first saw her last weekend when we contacted the dog warden. The Dog Warden is aware of her and has been trying to catch her for 4 weeks. Unfortunately they have been unable to catch her but a house owner has agreed to put food in her garden over the weekend to see if they can entice her and then lock the gates until the dog warden collects her on Monday. Hope this works. The dog warden spent several hours today trying to catch her but she doesn't seem to venture to far away from the park. I think we know all the places where she is sleeping.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
