Yes cats like the smell of wood as they can sharpen their claws, and the movement of it helps to tone their muscles.

I never knew that. She's been out again today but stayed quite close. I was worried but she loves to be outside. She's very nosey but hopefully learned her lesson! Thank you so much for all the help and support!

She had probably been trapped in some outbuiding, and was using her claws to try, and get out of the offending building. Cats love the smell of wood. This is one of the reaons why they are attracted to sheds etc. And of course very inquisitive. Thanks for letting DL know how Lola was found.x

My beautiful girl just strolled through the window yowing like you'd never believe. Hungry and her claws are a little worse for wear but healthy and obviously very glad to be home.
