Has the owner looked under any rocks behind bushes/hedges etc?. Presume owner has checked under all the furniture in the house?. Tortoises can be quite flexible They like to "Hide" sometimes don`t they? If the tortoise likes the sun; (I believe they do), put some food down he/she really likes (dandelions for eg) in a sun spot. It may attract the tortoise back. Ask neighbours (If you can) to search their gardens too. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. (I used to live by a family who kept tortoises) Shells xd.
