Very sad update from Kyra's FB page "Dogs Walk This Way Rescue·

With a broken heart and tears our beautiful Kyra has been found. She was on the network rail line in Grayswood so probably went within a day or two. I literally have no words, she was loved by so many and this showed In everyone’s efforts to try and bring her home. I’ve not slept in 9 weeks worrying about where she is and she’s been constantly on my mind and feel so incredibly sad that we rescued her from the kill shelter in November and she had a wonderful life here, feeling guilty I ever let her go to her first home as she was so happy at mine 😢💔

Nicki from doglost recovery is trying to retrieve kyras body so we can finally bring her home and lay her to rest. Literally broken 😢💔😢💔

Thank you everyone who’s helped in anyway bring Kyra home and I’m just so sad that it couldn’t have been alive 😢❤️

RIP my sweet girl, you’ll be missed by us all."

Info for tomorrow and Sunday

Dear all, we are still planning to search the Grayswood area and you are all very welcome to come assist but please read the following before you attend so we can ensure your safety.

Meeting point - car park, Grayswood Village Hall, Grayswood Road, GU27 2DJ

Timings - are currently set 0900-1800 for both Saturday and Sunday

Arrival - please arrive at the Grayswood Village Hall car park between the times above to sign in, provide your contact number and be assigned an area to search. This is important as we need to know how many people are on the ground, which areas have been searched and so we can ensure that everyone returns home safely at the end of the day.

Clothing - please ensure that you wear suitable footwear for walking in woodland and uneven tracks. Please also ensure that you wear appropriate clothing for the predicted weather. You may be asked to searched undergrowth so a walking pole or stick and long sleeves and trousers are recommended.

Food and drink - please ensure that you have enough food and drink for the time you are planning to assist for

Other - please ensure that your mobile phone is fully charged so that we have a means of contacting you when out and about. A walking tracking app would be beneficial, though not essential. You are likely to be searching with other people and are welcome to bring to your dog with you. If your dog is not person or dog friendly then please advise the others in your group.

UPDATE!!! We have just had this information from Kyra’s previous owners (thankfully I called them to tell them the news) about 4 weeks into her adoption, she was happy and settled and off lead. Someone visited the house which spooked her and she ran out the front door. She was found 10 miles, 3 hours later!!! This goes to show she could have travelled some distance within 7 days!!! Also she wasn’t sighted at all along her travels but after she reached Bracknell (maybe she was trying to make her way back to me 😢) she was only found as a dog walkers puppy went sniffing in some pushes and the owner saw kyra hiding in some pushes clearly having a rest.... this fills me with a little more confidence that she could be still out there and a lot further then we think! Also we do need to carry out a search party as suggested by Nicki to try and search the woodland and ditches by where she went missing. This will be happening this Saturday 9am-6pm in Grayswood, if you can help with this please contact Rachael Welch

Please can we ask everyone to share this group far and wide as she really could be anywhere by now!!!!!"
