- Update from AIMI IS SAFE fb page
On July 13th Aimi, an ex Romanian street dog escaped out of a window at her foster home in Blackpool and within 24 hours sightings showed that Aimi was leaving the immediate area in search of safety. Whilst in this immediate area, another team attempted to capture Aimi, however, within days, Aimi had continued her journey further south and was met with the River Ribble. As she had moved out of the area the team worked within, assistance from CCUK was requested.
Aimi continued her journey into Preston and it is here she picked up the railway line and navigated her way south. Ten days after escaping from home, she had successfully navigated her way around the River Ribble, through Preston to the Southport area.
Aimi was met with a number of challenges on her journey and was chased by well meaning people. This resulted in her continuing to move around and she did not settle for weeks, travelling to Tarleton, Banks, across to Southport and again back to Banks. A trapping attempt was made in Banks, however Aimi did not return.
In early August, sightings in Liverpool came in. Aimi had used the railway line to enter a very busy area. She did not stay for long, but picked up the line again, making her way to Huyton.
Days went by without any sightings of Aimi, as was often the case over the weeks. However the next sighting showed that Aimi was not happy with the built up environment of Huyton and retraced her steps, using the railway line to head back to the Southport area. For the next week sighings could come in of her across the Southport and surrounding area, using the railways, drainage systems, roundabouts and coastal routes as her compass.
On September 3rd, a key sighting came in and a break through! Aimi was sighted in a garden in Formby, fast asleep!
The lovely lady Hilary was advised to drop some food out of the window to keep Aimi there and not to go into the garden which would disturb her. A dog being walked on the street started to bark in an attempt to alert his owner that she was in the bushes and as he was walked on, Aimi left the garden.
With this presenting an opportunity to enter the garden without disturbing Aimi, a humane trap was set up with everyone hopeful that she would return and wouldn’t yet move on.
Aimi in fact we now believe had already came back and watched us put the trap up.That very night and with the tempting smells from the buffet on offer she came out of the bushes and entered the trap bringing her two month long adventure to an end.
Aimi adapted to every challenge she faced and has actually put on a little weight whilst on her adventure.
Aimi covered around 300 miles in total doing at least 10 miles per day
Aimi is now at home with her rescue and her four legged friends from Romania, some of whom she shared a kennel with. She will need time to decompress, but she is safe and warm now. Thank you to everyone who listened and helped by following advice to not chase Aimi which allowed her to settle.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in helping bring Aimi to safety. - 2020-09-04 18:30 Sharon - Social Media Volunteer

Thank you to everyone who has called / text and messaged with information about Aimi. This is helping us build a picture of her movements to help safely capture her. She still travels large distances and she is VERY SENSITIVE to any moment and changes to her environment.
💥SHE IS IN FULL SURVIVAL MODE💥
This means if she senses any human near her - SHE WILL MOVE AND RUN. Dogs who are put in this situation, by humans, loose their senses and their ability to navigate roads and railway lines safely. Survival mode is not a reflection on a dog, nor human, it is a fact that she is a canine doing what she needs to do to survive.
To help get Aimi out of the cold PLEASE SHARE and DO NOT PUT SIGHTINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Sightings placed on social media are often not passed on to the team or there is a delay in getting the information needed.
❌DO NOT CHASE - FOLLOW - CALL OR TRY TO CATCH HER
❗️You will never outrun a lost dog❗️
✅ IGNORE her - turn around and walk away if possible
✅ Call / Text / Message ASAP with time, date, location and direction of travel.
Thank You to everyone who has followed this and allowed her to pass safely and called in with information. - 2020-08-19 01:49 AnaGee

- Will be updating the page and also do a share post ASAP. In direct touch with the RESCUE and also TRAPPING TEAM. Looks like AIMI has travelled a fair distance and is now in the Merseyside areas. There has been SIGHTINGS of a dog fitting her description and matching her characteristics. She is extremely nervous of people and has been getting chased by well meaning people when sighted.

- It states she's a Lurcher, too, but she looks more like the size of a Patterdale Terrier. Can anyone clarify ? I'm looking out but just wanted to be more sure what we're looking out for. Thanks.
