Oh this is so sad and so very unecessary. As a previous post said, farmers think of their pockets and not of someones treasured and loved pet. Run free at the bridge, no one can hurt you now. Thought are with the owners...judy

Sadly, this kind of thing is not so uncommon. What is worse of all is the lack of thought about how Senna's family may feel about the loss of their beautiful companion. My heart goes out to you. Rachel Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm so sorry.  I support 100% everything psab said.  Farmers are too indiscriminate with their bullets.  Sleep tight Senna.  The Bridge is beautiful xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that any farmer that shoots a dog, has by law to inform the authorities. RIP lovely girl, deepest sympathy to owners.. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Was it a farmer?  I work in a semi-rural practice and the majority of them will not think twice about doing this.  All because they may lose the price of a sheep.  I feel sorry for any sheep that suffers or dies as the result of a dog attack (though more often than not, an attack that is automatically blamed on a dog that may have been seen roaming in the area turns out to be, after examination of teeth marks, a fox attack) but it's the law of nature.  I feel sorrier for any dog unnecessarily killed and its owners.  I have sympathy for the person who owns sheep (as I do, I live on an old farm and though we don't rear for market, we own livestock as pets) and loses one to a dog or fox but I have no sympathy for farmers unfortunately.  Their pocket is their priority, not their animals or anybody else's.  RIP Senna.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is so sad, I cannot believe that this is allowed to happen, someone should be accountable for this, and if they feel justified (???) for doing this act they should at least have the decency to inform owners, especially such a prominent well identifiable dog. Hugs to owners, and hold on to the happy memories XLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so very sad to report that Sennas owners have been told their lovely girl was shot soon after she went missing. No one has had the decency to own up to doing this but within their very small community the word has been passed around. There is no excuse for the person who has done this for not informing her owners as Senna was well known within the community and her owners had also put up many posters. There is no doubt they would have known whose dog it was ! So for the last weeks the owners have been searching for their much loved pet and now face the task of breaking the news to their children. My thoughts are with them and also lovely Senna. Run free beautiful Schnauzer girl and play with all your new friends at Rainbow Bridge xxx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to Sennas owners this evening and given them some advice re postering and checking with vets, dog wardens and local stray kennels. Also to visit the stray kennels in person to check Senna is not there and to leave a poster of her with them. Senna vanished from her garden between 5.30 and 6.30 on 6th November. They live in a very rural area and have searched the surrounding countryside and also checked wikth local farmers that they have not seen her. They are hoping to send a photograph of Senna into us tonight. Hoping for some news of this girl very soon xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
