"Dear Facebook Friends and beautiful Strangers who have helped us,
I am writing this as many of you are aware that there was another side to Eli’s story. You know we live in leafy Salisbury, possibly one of the best places for a child to grow up. Our lives are blessed, we have more than enough food and an amazing education system and Netflix. Compared to most we have everything. So if someone comes to my door and is hungry I try and give them a family meal. If they need a bed for the night they can stay. We will listen to their story and give them time. I don’t have the skills of a nurse or a surgeon but this I can do (as many others do every day too).
So what then if the person who is staying leaves and takes not money or laptops but instead the beloved family dog? How should I react?
Because I am a woman who has had the privilege of a British education system I know I have a choice. I can be angry or I can choose to dislike the behaviour but still love the person. Because I am a Christian and I know that I am always loved and always given second chances it is easy for me to stop and try and see the person behind the mistake. Because my three girls have also been through school here and have grown up with family, church family and amazing friends they have been able to react in ways that have made me proud. Izzy, my 13 year old, chose not to be cross with me for bringing in a stranger who took her dog but to do all she could to make my life easier over the summer. Chiara, my 24 year old, as you know tenaciously project managed Eli’s return with your help. Giulia, my eldest, left home a month ago on a quest to find out why such things occur. Why in this rich country do we have people on the streets, many of whom are ex forces who have served their country well so that we can continue to live in our privileged bubbles. She is walking from Salisbury to Glasgow - you can follow her story at www.gonetosee.co.uk If you feel able to support the charities for whom she is walking that would be great. I’d also like to give a shout out to Doglost www.doglost.co.uk and Futures for Dogs www.futuresfordogs.co.uk whose volunteers worked so hard and brought Eli safely back to us.
You don’t need me to remind you that we all do better when we have people who love us. I am so lucky to have that. So if you see Mark/Connor or anyone like him, please give him some of your time. My prayer is that he will meet the right person to access the help he needs and that he will accept that help.
Love to you all,
Jane and Eli"

A post on Eli's Facebook group mentions a possible sighting last week in Salisbury, please can posters be put up around Elizabeth Gardens?

Hi everyone! There was a possible sighting of a chocolate labrador last Wednesday 29/07 at Elizabeth Gardens at approx 13:45 tied to a tree, with a male matching the description sitting close by. If anyone saw them, in or around the area, that day we would be grateful for more details. Bumping due to this update.

I have just spoken with family, sadly Eli is still missing.  They very much appreciate the support of their local and DogLost community.
** The family have shared information that Eli is potentially in company of a gentleman of a transient lifestyle, possibly ex Military, that may have now travelled on from Wiltshire to areas unknown, possibly on foot or using public transport.
** The gentleman of smart appearance, a white male, tall, slim build, tanned complexion, short 'salt & pepper' hair with a beard, in his 40's-50's with a Scottish accent.
** Eli wearing a faded red collar with ID tag attached, possibly being walked on a blue lead with knots.
** Should the gentleman be seen in company of Eli the family ask that he be shown kindness, contacting owner immediately or Wiltshire Police Tel 101 quoting log 134-21/07/2020 who wish to locate gentleman for a welfare check and reunite Eli with family.  (Wiltshire Police: 54200071751)
** Eli's microchip has been updated. Thank you.Last edited: 2020-08-22 15:56:50 by Will
