- CROSS POSTED UPDATE by Donna (BINDI’s)
Chester the missing Rommie dog is safe and at home snoring away following his 3 day escapade - he’s got a visit at the vets scheduled later on just to give him a checkover following his adventure and Olympic trials as a swimmer for team GB in the River Mersey
Every trapping & capture has its highs and lows and this one was scary and joyful in equal measures ... reuniting with his amazing owners has made the rollercoaster of the past few day’s so worthwhile.
Chester had suffered a tough old life in Romania and 2 weeks ago came together live in the UK - he’s such a brave sweet dog and after many days on the run was sighted on the sandbanks of Westbank by Kirsty Louise who posted on Facebook this morning and thankfully the Snig pub landlords raised the alarm. Shares on fb and social media presence are vital to the work we do even though it adds to the pressure when passers by chase the dog away. But on this occasion they we’re amazing.
This capture followed days of sleepless nights watching cameras ( because technology was being a jerk) plotting & mapping , scenting half of Widnes with oxtail soup, fish broth and any other delightful smells ( I apologise if you can still smell it now or for weeks ahead ).
Chester decided to hide in Fiddlers Ferry Power station which as you can imagine was rather difficult but with thanks to the managers & security team of the power station we did gain permission to access a small area of the site with other sibling dog..
the amazing family, friends and the volunteers of Phoenix rescue worked so hard - posters went up on every ounce of land across Widnes & Penketh and the team spirit was immense - no egos no falling out just support for each other you were awesome
This morning as we were driving full pelt to the scene ( without brushing hair, having a wash or even tying shoe laces ) I was fearful for his life ... but this dog didn’t do anything by halves .... and he had to make it
If it’s not running around secure power stations it’s lying on the sandbanks whilst the tide was coming in to full on swimming in the River Mersey ...
Thank you to Cheshire Fire Service, Phoenix Rescue Cathy Billington from Carla Lane for transporting the large trap, and to the wonderful people involved in this capture
Nikki & Mark Twambley as owners you were AMAZING
Jan Major for shares & posters
How we look forward to having a shower, me not looking like a bag lady, not out at daft o’clock in the morning following up sightings
If you would like to help us continue our work you can donate any funds will go to Bindis Lost and Found Pets ( trapping team )

- CROSS POSTED UPDATE from his very happy owners:
Chester was spotted this morning on a sand bank in the Mersey, was rescued by the fire service as the tide rose and he had to swim to shore. Is now at home, fed, watered and sleeping. Appears none the worse for his adventures.
A massive Thankyou to everyone who helped in the search, especially Donna, Meg Evans and Bev from Rose Tree Kennels, Louise Marie and Ste, to name but a few. We are so grateful to you all and so happy to have him home xxxLast edited: 2020-08-02 14:55:41 - 2020-08-02 11:08 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- CROSS POSTED Update from BINDI’s who are helping with the trapping along with the Rescue:
The trap has been set up for Chester tonight in Widnes
Along with cameras we scented the nearby areas - the wind was on our side when we scented the nearby areas and hedges and popped a bbq up in a place he knows well
The next sighting is crucial
We’re hopeful he will remain in the same area and make his way back to the same place he did last night
No sightings today which isn’t uncommon
He’s a scared older dog who just needs to calm down a little ... today he’s probably lay low which we’re hoping for
Cmon Chester
