Emilio's story from his FB page "SAFE - EMILIO, a scared Romanian rescue escaped early morning out the front door of his adopter's home in the busy London suburb of Tooting Bec on 23rd September. He ran a mile south through the local urban streets with numerous sightings and attempts to catch him which unfortunately kept him running, so the chances of him finding his way home were slim. For the following 8 days he seemed to stay around the St Leonard's area - however only 7 sightings, so he knew how to keep himself away from human eyes 👀, followed by another 8 days around Tooting Bec Lido - again only 6 sightings, despite the huge number of posters put up by local helpers. Cameras and traps were set up at possible locations, but only the plentiful foxes came to eat the food. 🦊. The feeling was that he was using the nearby railline to move about unseen. On 11th October we get sent door bell footage and 4 sightings of an Emilio like dog in Worcester Park, backed up with dash cam footage! Local helpers there postered the area, but next day he was in Surbiton which was also postered! Nothing for 4 days and then a sighting in Byfleet (5 stops down the line from Surbiton). More posters were put up and over the next 4 days we were able to monitor his routes and get him feeding on camera - finally on 20th October he was trapped and his 4 week adventure came to an end in Byfleet, 20 mile from where he escaped. Emilio is now back with his rescue and other than being a bit skinny and a few fleas and ticks he seems fine. <3

When we say 'poster a 20 mile radius' for a dog with no/few sightings it is because of dogs like Emilio - they can and do travel significant distances!!"

Fantastic news overnight, Emilio was successfully trapped - he looks fit and healthy. Well done to everyone involved, massive effort following him for this last month, he’s certainly travelled a distance.
Well done to LSRS for finally trapping him

Can alerts go out to Kingston too? Thank you
DogLostreggiemollieros
On the group a new poster says possibly sighting Worcester Park. Would it be a good idea to send alerts to that postcode area? Or has that been done? Thank you.

Hi yes he’s a Romanian rescue only been in UK a couple of weeks no sightings since late last night. The family do have pro’s advising, DL co-ordinator Karen is involved and Dogs of Tooting Common fb group members have been invaluable as ever for sightings.
